Aquarium in
Chattanooga. After
seeing the fish, the
children were then
treated to a docu
mentary about space
exploration at the
IMAX theatre.
Boy Scouts give five million youth development hours
In 1997, the Northeast Georgia
Council, Boy Scouts of America
registered 18,000 youth members
with each member active in
Scouting an average of 25 hours
each month. Activities range
from community service projects,
weekly Scout meetings and field
trips teaching the ideas of the
Boy Scouts of America. This
means five million hours of char
acter development, citizenship

Candy box of the year
The Cumming Civitan Club recently
presented a special award plaque to
Giorgio’s Restaurant for being their
“1997 Candy Box Location of the
Year.” The familiar red and white mint
candies in the blue box raise money
for the Civitan International Research
Center in Birmingham, Ala. and help
send developmentally disabled chil
dren from Forsyth County to Camp Big
Heart every summer. Candy and coin
boxes are located in stores and restau*
