Classic’s Grill and Bar became the first official Relay for Life sponsor in a special presentation which will be featured with upcoming Relay coverage. What began as an in-school fundraiser at North Forsyth Middle School has become a national Relay for Life promotion - the sale of $1 moons from the Relay logo will represent a memorial donation while a sun from the logo will honor someone special. The effort is going national as a result of what began at NFMS, announced Charlene Harrell, in recognizing Principal Jane Fuqua and Lisa Reynolds. An artistic and history based NFMS fundraising effort will be featured next week. Harrell explained how to start a Relay for Life team and announced a team captain’s meeting will be held Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. in the Chattahoochee Elementary School media center. “Let’s get to work,” Harrell said. The Pet Therapy program the society provides will be spot lighted in an upcoming feature. Dotti Elletson and Marcy Maixner-Ostrom were praised by Hattaway for their efforts in organizing the Humane Hearts event. Pet adoptions are held on the first and third Saturday of every month at the Wachovia Bank drive-thru in Lakeland Plaza in Cumming from 1 to 4 p.m. Every fourth Sunday, adoptions are held at Pets Mart at North Point Mall in Alpharetta from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cats and kittens are available at Pet Place and Noah’s Ark in Cumming. Recycle bins are located on Hutchinson Road across from Pet Place and on Old Atlanta Road near the Kmart Garden Center in Cumming.
