Central VOCA students win at state
; The Forsyth Central VOCA club won the state
VOCA competition for the second year in a row.
.The club received an overall Superior rating at the
event, held at St. Simon’s Island in April.
Students Leann Callahan and Whitney White were
awarded a commemorative plaque for the occasion
in recognition of their hard work throughout the aca
demic year in compiling an awesome amount of
documentation.
T.J. Macy won second place for public speaking.
Macy presented a three-minute speech using this
year’s VOCA theme: “Surfing the Net for a New
Age.”

Stacey Ambrose won third place in the culinary
arts competition with her authentic display of
Japanese sushi and tofu.
Andrew Croy won third place in metals with the
large smoker/grill he welded.
And the math team, which consisted of Bobby
Rabun, Elizabeth Pawela and Whitney White, took
fourth place at the state competition.
The club’s coordinating teachers, Linda Chihlas
and Myra Bennett, as well as the parents of Rabun
and Croy, were also in attendance.

Safety Town
The grand opening of Safety
Town will be held Monday, June
8, at 8 a.m. at Daves Creek
Elementary. Teen volunteers and
donations are still needed for the
nine-day summer camp for chil
dren entering kindergarten.
Registration is continuing for
both sessions at Chattahoochee
Elementary and for slots in
Session II at Daves Creek
Elementary, to be held June 8 -
18 from 12:30 - 3 p.m. The fee is
S3O, which includes snacks, sup

Drama and art camp

High School, will hold a week
long Drama and Art camp July
13-17, from 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
for grades K-5. Give children a
start in the performing arts. Camp
will be held at FCHS. The cost is
$75 per child, and $65 for an
additional child in the same fami

Drama camp
Randy Herrin, drama director
for North Forsyth Middle School,
will host a drama camp for stu
dents in grades 6-8. The camp
will be held June 22-26, from
9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Students
will learn a variety of drama tech
niques from pantomime to impro
visation, as well as performing
short skits. The cost is $75 per
child, and $65 for each additional
child in the same family. Pre-reg

and divide money. Students
were asked to count out spe
cific amounts and divide the
money into two or more
