Imagine a college recruiting for its

on-line and high school juniors
are jumping at this new opportunity to

Parents, secondary school guidance

is a tool that enables students and

the college has a chance to solicit the
student with a targeted message as
much as a year earlier than in the past.

You may have noticed that the
Clinton scandals show a cyclical pat
tern good week, bad week. But the
indications are that the bad weeks are
beginning to predominate and that we
will go over the falls with the interim
report to be submitted to Congress by
Kenneth Starr sometime in June.
Looking ahead, a good guess would
be that the Starr report will be devas
tating. This may have been signaled
when Speaker Newt Gingrich sudden
ly abandoned the Republican approach
of soft-pedaling the scandals and
launched a strong attack on Clinton’s
character and behavior. No doubt con
gressional Republicans have been feel
ing grass-roots pressure to speak out
about the scandals, but it is also likely
that Gingrich decided to do so after a
tip-off that the report will be dynamite.
It would be surprising if Starr did
not come up with a heavily document
ed account of criminality, abuse of
power, obstruction of justice, financial
illegalities and perjury. When this hap
pens, the House, heretofore reluctant
to face the prospect of impeachment
hearings, will be obliged to hold them.
The hearings, of course, will be tele
vised. Clinton’s poll ratings will plum
met, the House will vote to impeach
and the case will go to the Senate for
trial.
Clinton has been having good and
bad patches, as usual. When the Paula
Jones case was thrown out because, as

had dropped hjs trousers, that did not

Q: My dad says that Frank Sinatra
used to have a weekly variety show
on TV. If so, when and where did it
run? -Barry Nisman via e-mail.
A: The Frank Sinatra Show pre
miered live from New York on CBS in
October 1950. Perhaps because of its
competition - first from Sid Caesar,
then from Milton Berle - the show
lasted only a year and a half. A sec
ond Frank Sinatra Show, which was
even less successful, aired on ABC
during the 1957-58 season.
meet the legal definition of sexual
harassment, the Clinton spinners made
it sound as if Clinton had been exoner
ated of outrageous behavior. Os
course, that was not the case, and the
Jones allegations certainly fit into a
pattern of Clinton sexual advances as
confirmed subsequently by the
Lewinsky accounts.
A particularly bad patch for Clinton
followed allegations on “60 Minutes”
by Kathleen Willey about a gross
grope by Clinton in or near the Ova!
Office. Willey was widely thought to
be credible, though the Clinton spin
ners came up with some job-hunting
notes from Willey to Clinton in an
attempt to undercut her account
The Clinton stonewall began to
crumble when a federal judge rejected
sweeping claims of executive privilege
regarding the testimony of two Clinton
aides, Bruce Lindsey, who has been
close to Clinton since Arkansas and
knows where the bodies are buried,
and former journalist Sidney
Blumenthal, who has been privy to the
spin discussions. Lindsey could be
particularly dangerous to Clinton,
playing the John Dean role here.
There was a wise man, so goes the
Jesus parable, who built his house on a
rock. When the floods came, it stood.
There was a foolish man who built his
house on sand. ’The rains came down,
the streams rose, the winds blew and
beat against the house and it fell with a
great crash'.”
