The Fredrick Group
enters resell agreement ' _
The Fredrick Group is a growing, experienced
product and services firm specializing in the sup
port, development and services of software prod
ucts designed to run all aspects of a manufacturing
business. TFG has entered into a reseller agreement
with CGI Informatique, a French company, to
remarket under TFG logo, a series of business
solutions designed to help manufacturing firms of
all sizes to improve their operations. The TFG
products are based on IBM’s data base DB/2.
Primary functions of the TFG products include
Engineering Data Support, Material Planning,
Procurement, Inventory Control Order Entry and
Production Scheduling. TFG serves clients nation
ally and internationally.
The Fredrick Group is headed by Francis
Whitehead, president; Glenn Whitehead, vice pres
'ident support; Mike Grant vice president, develop
ment; and Herman Bruns, vice president, market
ing. Three are residents of Forsyth County. The
firm recently relocating from Dunwoody to
- Cumming and will hold an open house on June 10.
The new office is located in Suite 303 in the First
Colony Bank building, 100 Colony Park Drive.

new executive director
' The Board of Directors of Georgia Mountains
' Regional Economic Development Corporation has
announced the promotion of Shelia S. Greene to
executive director.
' Greene has been employed in lending for 14 years
' and has worked for the EDC as senior lender for the
J past eight years. She received her education at West
Georgia College. A resident of Clarkesville, she is
married to Richard Greene.

cial institutions, the EDC subordinates its position
and enables financial more secure loans.
Advantages to the include fixed rates of interest
and longer terms. The services related to the
financing of land purchase, machinery/equipment.
Virtually all businesses are eligible for EDC loans.
To date, the EDC has assisted in the total capital
investment of SIOO million in the area with 4,901
jobs created or retained.
The EDC includes a board of directors consisting
of area bankers, economic developers and elected
officials. EDC Director Rock Hunt, president of
Regions Bank of Forsyth, said “The EDC is very
fortunate to have Shelia’s knowledge and experi
ence guiding the company. Small businesses in the
area as well as the surrounding communities will
benefit from her leadership in promoting economic
development in Forsyth County.”

Georgia Mountains’ jobless rate
declines to 2.6 percent in April
State Labor
Commissioner Marti
Fullerton said last week
that the unemployment
rate in the Georgia
Mountains region
declined to 2.6 percent in
April, down from 3.3 per
cent in March. The area’s
jobless rate was 3.6 per
cent in April 1997.
“The unemployment rate
in the Georgia Mountains
area declined, with 1,200
residents of the area who
did not have jobs in
March found work in
April,” Fullerton said.
“The area has experienced
good job growth during
the past year and that has
lowered the unemploy
ment rate.”
In April, the region’s
civilian labor force, which
is the number of people
working plus those unem
ployed but actively look
ing for a job, totaled
208,707. Os that number,
203,248 had jobs and
5,459 did not.
In April 1997, the area’s
work force totaled
205,491. Os that number,
198,117 were employed
and 7,374 were unem
ployed.
Georgia’s unemployment
rate declined to 3.5 per
cent in April, its lowest
point in 25 years. The job
less rate was down from
4.0 percent in March and
4.3 percent in April 1997.
