School personnel honored at Distinguished Service Awards picnic
By Laura Lavezzo
Staff Writer
A crowd of school system personnel turned out Monday for the
second annual “Distinguished Service Awards” picnic. Held at the
Forsyth Central High School stadium, the program’s purpose is to
recognize exemplary employees of Forsyth County Schools.
Teachers, administrators, and other staff members were placed in
the spotlight Monday for having performed above and beyond what
is expected of them during the past academic year.
“These folks are the best of the best,” stated assistant superinten
dent Paula Gault.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Allene Magill celebrated many of
the awarded employees with her own observations on their devotion
to the county’s school children.
Eddie Taylor, Don Hendricks and Ben Benson, three members of
the Forsyth County Board of Education, were present to salute
these special employees. Following an invocation by Taylor, who
remembered the Lawhorne family for their loss in his remarks,
chairman of the board Benson shared a poem by Charles Osgood
with those in attendance.
“Besides being a pretty good school system, we want to be a pret
ty great one,” he said.
Following is a listing of the exemplary school employees and their
recognitions:
