Healthy outlook for Baptist Medical
By Roxane Campbell
Associate Editor
A future as a regional medical
center looks bright for the new
Baptist Medical Center • Cumming.
Not yet completed, the new site for
the Baptist North Hospital, currently
located on Samaritan Road, already
has doctors on a waiting list for
office space. In addition, Baptist
Medical closed on additional
acreage for the site a week ago and
plans are in the works for additional
services and facilities.

Secretary of
State Lewis Massey

awards and Patricia
Ford-Roegner,
regional director of
the U.S. Department
of Health and Human Services, is the
keynote speaker.
The Georgia Women Pioneers in
Health Care reception is sponsored
by the Georgia Women’s History
Month Committee and the Georgia
Commission on Women.
In previous years, women in the
arts and women athletes have been
honored in this grassroots effort.
Women’s History Month began
as a local celebration in Sonoma
County, Calif., in 1977. For the most
part, history has focused primarily
on men’s roles in political, econom
ic, and social development, while
women have been depicted as pas
sive, supportive players.
