Henry passed away in 1996.
They now have 12 McDonalds,
and Harriet gives credit to her son
for the last six sites they opened. Os
the 12, three are located in Forsyth,
and the rest are in Atlanta, Stone
Mountain, Dawsonville and the
metro area.
People who know H&H Muller,
and Harriet in particular, think of
them as active in the community.
Harriet, rather modest about the
participation, said, “Oh, we don’t
do much.”
But the list is extensive, includ
ing supporting the Jaycees; Forsyth
County and metro-area schools,
including money for class trips, ads
for the different teams, booster
clubs, etc.; and the Special
Olympics.
But Harriet, despite being a suc
cessful businesswoman, is not all
business.
In addition to more or less regu
lar office hours, Harriet also runs a
176-acre farm in Jackson County,
which she and her husband pur
chased in 1991. The farm is home
to five horses and 35 beef cows, and
she spends a few days each week
there.
She also keeps up her horseback
riding.
Avid fox hunters, the Mullers
joined the fox hunt when they
moved South, a hobby Harriet con
tinues to pursue. Her husband was
master of the hunt at Shakerag
Hounds Hunt. And, she organizes
the Hunt Ball every year, which
closes the hunt season. Harriet, an
animal lover, said, “We don’t kill -
it’s the thrill of the chase. And we
always call the hounds off, although
most of the foxes outsmart us any
way.”
