for low-income households for
Thanksgiving and Christmas
for families with children on
Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to
noon. Spanish-speaking appli
cations should apply on
Fridays or on the Saturday
sign ups listed below.
Saturday sign ups are Nov. 9
from 9 a.m. to noon or Dec.
14 from 1-3 p.m. Applications
must be completed in person
at The Place of Forsyth
County Inc. at 2550 The Place
Circle. The last day to sign up
for Thanksgiving is Nov. 15
and for Christmas is Dec. 14.
Information required is a
proof of residency, proof of
income for all household
members for the past 30 days,
photo identification and Social
Security numbers for all mem
bers of the family. Volunteers
are needed to make this year

Home heating help
available
... for the low income, eld
erly and disabled. Low
income homebound, particu
larly elderly and disabled peo
ple, can apply for help paying
their home heating bills. The
Georgia Department of
Human Resources will help
pay heating costs for gas, elec
tricity, wood, coal or kerosene.
One-time payments will be
made primarily by checks
issued to home energy suppli
ers on behalf of eligible
households. Eligibility for the
program is based on the
income of all members of the
household. All eligible house
holds must be responsible for
their home heating costs.
When applying for assis
tance, persons must present
written proof of income for all
household members. This can
be a paycheck stub, public
assistance check or unemploy
ment check. Applicants must
also supply a social security
number for each person in the
household and a most recent
home heating bill or documen
tation. Depending on avail
ability of funds, other house
holds may apply for the regu
lar program which will open
to the public on Dec. 2. For

Girl Scout Troop 3780

decorate the Cumming and
Sharon Forks libraries for the
holidays. This year’s theme is
“Cumming Home for the
Holidays.” The public is invit
ed to join with the traditional
holiday preparations by creat
ing hand-made ornaments for
the trees for both libraries.
The goal is to receive orna
ments, no bigger than a nor
mal-sized ornament that
reflect Forsyth County, by

Safety Program

both days is required to get
your certificate. Newly updat
ed and revised, the course
includes information on safe
driving tips for people 50
years and older; any driving
ages are encourage to attend.

will be a special guest. Patrons
are encourage to bring cam
eras and items to be auto
graphed. These activities will
take place at the Cumming
branch on Tuesday, Nov. 19,
and at the Sharon Forks
Branch on Thursday, Nov. 21.
The library’s annual
Thanksgiving puppet show
will be Saturday, Nov. 16. All
ages are welcome. Show times
are 11 a.m. at the Cumming
Library and 1 p.m. at the
Sharon Forks Library.

Sawnee Cultural Arts
Center

Manners are Marvelous, to
