Crime reports
• Deputies were called out
on Nov. 7 in reference to a
man, possibly under the influ
ence of alcohol, causing a
public disturbance.
When deputies approached
the man, Benjamin Curtright
11, 26, of Aurelia Drive, locat
ed south of Cumming, he said
he was walking with his friend
through the subdivision and
his friend threw a beer onto
the tennis courts where games
were being played.
The tennis players exited
the courts and tried to talk to
Curtright.
Curtright said the tennis
players began following him
through the neighborhood. He
told the deputies that he was
drinking beer but he never
threw it onto the courts. As the
tennis players continued to
follow him, Curtright tried to
get into a car occupied by a
mother and her children as it
passed by.
Curtright was arrested and
charged with public drunken
ness.
• A 42-year-old Gainesville
man told deputies that, as he
was riding his bike home on
Knight Road near Armour
Court in Gainesville on Nov.
10, an unknown vehicle
stopped and two men jumped
out.
The man said someone
then struck him in the head
with some sort of object. He
fell to the ground and the men
began to kick and punch him
until he lost consciousness. An
hour later, he said he regained
consciousness and crawled
home.
• A Cumming man said
that someone shot his dog on
the evening of Nov. 11.
, ,The man’s daughter told
deputies that the dog,
“Princess,” was on the back
porch when she heard it yelp
loudly. She ran out to see what
happened and saw blood
everywhere. The shot hit the
dog’s left shoulder.
The girl’s father took the
dog to a veterinarian, who said
the dog had been shot with
either a BB gun or a small-cal
iber pistol.
The dog appeared to the
deputies to be getting along
better and was scheduled to
have X-rays taken the follow
ing week.
• Deputies arrived at a
business called Intelligrated at
1035 Windward Ridge Pkwy.

The dental health of the
study’s participants will be
monitored throughout their
school years, she added.
In October, Murden per
formed similar services for
students at Chestatee
Elementary School.
The cost to the partici
pants is minimal ss for
those who have the money,
free for those who can’t pay.
Trent said the dentist
brought to her school clinic
all of the necessary dental
equipment, including a
patient chair.
“It’s pretty exciting.
Some of these students have
never seen a dentist. Some
have,” she said.
“It’s been a great experi
ence for them, and it’s good
for the parents too, easy on
their pocketbooks. Not all
insurance will pay for
sealants, and if you don’t
have the income, dental
especially preventative is
last on the list.”
After completing his
work at the Cumming
school, Dr. Murden plans to
head to Dawson County,
where students from two
additional schools will join
the long-term study.
Georgia’s Dental Public
Health Programs in fiscal
year 2001 provided preven
tative dentistry services to
124,250 children throughout
the state.
