Geographic Information Systems Day will be observed
Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the foyer of the
County Administration Building in downtown Cumming.
County GIS manager John Kilgore says it will allow the
public to get a better idea of how valuable of a tool the
county’s GIS technology has become.

Forsyth County.
That is, Geographic
Information Systems Day.
A GIS is a computer sys
tem of geographically refer
enced information, and it is
used in a myriad of ways in
this county.
All day Wednesday, from 9
a.m. to 5 p.m., maps and tables
will be on display in the foyer
of the County Administration
Building in downtown
Cumming to allow the public
to get a better idea of how
valuable of a tool the county’s
Adoption panel to answer questions

invited.
This panel will present an
overview on the adoption
process and provide informa
tion on the varying ways to
adopt a child.

Police plan crackdown
on seatbelt compliance
over Thanksgiving

More than 500 law
enforcement agencies
across Georgia, including
local police, will step up
enforcement of seatbelt and
child restraint laws around
the Thanksgiving holiday.
The heightened attention
to motorist compliance with
seatbelt laws is in connec
tion with the national
“Click It or Ticket” pro
gram.
It will run from Nov. 18
to Dec. 1.
The enforcement blitz
comes as new data show
that more men and women
in uniform die in traffic
crashes than any other
cause.

County library board to talk of
possible future construction
The Forsyth County
Public Library Board at a
meeting Monday will address
construction projects that
could be built, if voters
approve an extension of the
county’s Special Purpose
Local Option Sales Tax.
The county now has two
libraries, one in Cumming
and one in south Forsyth.
The board meets at 5:30
p.m. at the Cumming Public
Library.

a March 2003 voter referen
dum on the SPLOST exten
sion.
Other items to be dis
cussed at the library board
meeting include the system’s
customer service policy and
long-term care insurance for
employees.
