new retailer
By Jess Elkins

In a busy technology
driven world, oftentimes tra

traditions which require leav

youth of fishing and hunting
trips and family hikes that
inspired Mike Leonard to do
his part in preserving,
“Outdoor Traditions.”
Leonard’s sporting goods
store, Outdoor Traditions, at
the intersection of Ga. 400
and Hwy.'l36, opened only
four weeks ago and has far
surpassed his expectations.
“I couldn’t have dreamed
of a better start. The market
research indicated the need
was there, but I don't think
anyone would have predicted
how successful we’ve been
so far,” he said.
Aside from being the only
store like it in the Dawson
County area, Outdoor
Traditions also has a unique
niche among its competitors.
“There is an expert in
each department,” said
Leonard. “It was very impor
tant to me to not hire just
anybody.” In the department
devoted to golf, which
Leonard says is immersed
with tradition, you will find
former PGA professional,
head golf pro and swing
school owner, Steve

are very lucky to have them."
Other not so common
aspects of Outdoor
Traditions is the small nature

"Nature's Classroom is

be surprised how many have
never seen a beaver before or
