combination class. The pro
gram is divided with 20 min
utes of tap and 25 minutes of
ballet. The technical training
is taught through ballet, which
in turn helps teach the proper
shifting of weight and patterns
in movement for tap. Classes
are being offered at Central
Park Recreation Center on
Tuesdays, starting Dec. 2-Feb.
24, for ages 4-5, from 2:30-
3:15 p.m. or 3:30-4:15 p.m.;

• Tai Chi The Beijing
Twenty-four Postures are
being taught at Central Park
Recreation Center starting on
Wednesday, Dec. 3, from 6:45-
7:45 p.m. The fee is S6O for
six weeks.
• Pilates The philosophy
of Pilates focuses on training
the mind and body to work
toward a goal of overall fit
ness. It is a great program for
anyone who wants to tone,
streamline and realign their
body without the bulked up
results of more conventional
methods. Each exercise is an
important movement in and of
itself but can also be a pro
gressive move to a more diffi
cult exercise. Class will be
held at Central Park
Recreation Center on
Mondays, starting Jan. 5, from
7-7:45 p.m. and Wednesdays,
Jan. 5, from 10-10:45 a.m.
The fee is SSO for eight
weeks.
• Karate Traditional
Okinawan karate will be
taught at Central Park
Recreation Center starting
Monday, Dec. 1. for ages 5-12
from 5 :30-6:30 p.m. and for
ages 13 and up from 6:30-7:30
p.m. The classes will be
Mondays and Wednesdays and
are designed to develop a
lifestyle that leads to self
defense, self-confidence,
improved health and improved
balance and coordination. The
fee is S6O for six weeks.
• Jazz-Ballet An excit
ing dance class that offers a
wide range of fun and up beat
movement! All of the jazz
activities are presented
through “popular” dance
music. The children will learn
class discipline, listening
skills, coordination skills, pat
terns in movement, and basic
jazz dance technique. Students
will also be introduced to
basic concepts of Ballet tech
nique and vocabulary.
Classes are being taught at
Central Park Recreation
Center on Tuesdays, starting
Dec.2-Feb. 24 for ages 6-8
from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and for
ages 9-12 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Emphasis is on team spirit and
