TFK: In the video game, “Backyard
Basketball,” kid versions of you and other NBA
stars like Yao Ming are shooting hoops. What do
you think kids will like best about the game?
Tim Duncan: It’s fun to play, it’s pretty easy
to play and it’s got cool stuff, like you can create
your own players. It’s got a lot of different people
to play with. I think that’s the best part.
TFK: At what age did you start to take basket
ball seriously?
Duncan: Probably 15 or 16.
TFK: What do you consider to be the biggest
highlight of your career so far?
Duncan: Probably winning two champi
onships with the San Antonio Spurs.
TFK: Leßron James made big news for going
straight to the NBA from high school. Do you
agree with allowing athletes to play in the NBA
right out of high school?
Duncan: I don’t think you can limit people
from going to the NBA. If they’re talented enough
and they believe they can play, I think they should
have the opportunity to.
TFK: On the court, you and Shaquille O’Neal
have been rivals for years now, but what is your
relationship like off the court?
Duncan: It’s fine. We don’t hang out a whole
lot or anything, but he’s a funny guy and he’s cool
to be around.
TFK: What was your favorite book as a kid?
Duncan: “Encyclopedia Brown.”
TFK: What advice do you have for kids who
want to play sports when they grow up?
Duncan: Play a lot. Always get on the court
and play. Play what
