The AARP Tax Aide
Program

tax service for low income and
senior taxpayers, will be at the
Cumming Public Library on
Thursdays from 10 a. m. to 2
p.m. through April 5. No
appointment necessary, you
just sign-in and taxpayers will
be taken care of in order of
arrival. It is necessary for all
taxpayers using this free serv
ice to bring their Social
Security card(s) along with
last year’s tax returns. This
will assist the Tax-Aide volun
teers in properly completing
this year's returns.

Public meetings
rescheduled
... The Let’s. Build It!
Campaign Committee
announced that only two pub
lic information meetings will
be held to provide information
and answer voter questions
relating to the March 2 bond
referendum. Originally five
meeting had been planned,
however the demanding
schedules of the public offi
cials scheduled to participate
in the hearings made it not
practical to have so many
meetings.
The two meetings will be
Feb. 12 at the Otwell Middle
School and Feb. 26 at the
South Forsyth Middle School.
Both meetings will commence
at 7 p.m. All interested voters
are invited to attend and sub
mit questions. Any voter wish
ing to submit a question in
advance of a public meeting
may do so on the Web site at

University are co-sponsoring a
“50 Plus" Community Health
Fair at Georgia State’s
Alpharetta campus, east of Ga.

Friday, Feb. 13, from 9 a.m. to
2 p.m. and will offer lectures,
free health screenings and
general information on health
and wellness.
Although the event is
designed for the “over 50
crowd,” the screenings and
information opportunities are
relevant to those “not quite
there yet” as well. The free
health screenings will include
blood pressure, cholesterol
and glucose, balance, bone
density and consultations with
board-certified physicians and
healthcare professionals.
Exhibit tables will also pro
vide health, wellness and safe
ty information on a variety of
topics and interests.

is being provided to help min
imize wait times. Fasting for
this screening is recommend
ed, but not required.
