Lake Lanier and Chattahoochee River Fishing Report
Water Conditions: The
lake temperatures are in the
mostly around the mid 50s.
You can find warmer or cooler
water if you move around.
The river is mostly clear with
a stain during the rains.
Bass: Fishing has been
really good with the warmer
temperatures. The cold fronts
can slow them down a little,
but these fish are in a pre
spawn feeding mode and are
very hungry.
Just about any bait you fish
with confidence can catch a
few. I would recommend
crank baits, spinner baits, jerk
baits or worms fished in less
than 20 feet. Some of these
bass are real shallow and feed
ing on smaller shad. We
caught several nice keepers on

against wind-blown banks last
week.

But the Dawgs' offense
continued to pound away and
again came close to a second
goal with eight minutes left in
the half, creating a one-on-one
with the Tucker goalkeeper for
Whittington, who drilled the
ball agonizingly w ide.

scrapping for every ball.
Tucker kept the contest close,
despite not creating many
scoring opportunities.
Yet just as the Tigers began
to pressure the Bulldog goal.
Central fired back with a deci
sive goal from Whittington
with 26 minutes left.
Running on to a deep pass
on the right side of the Tucker
penalty area. Whittington
chipped the ball over one
defender before cutting it back
and drilling a shot underneath
the Tiger keeper for a 2-0 lead.
From there. Central
seemed content to let their
defense and midfield do all the
work, keeping the ball in pos
session while daring Tucker to
find a scoring option.
Unfortunately, a lively fin
ish came to a screeching halt
when Whittington went down
with what appeared to be a
severe leg injury just nine
minutes from time and had to
be carried off the field.
When the game resumed.
Tucker continued to press for
ward and finally created a
strong scoring chance with
three minutes left. But Central
keeper Kevin Parks denied the
Tigers a sure goal when he
stretched high and to his right
to push a blistering volley
around the post and preserve
the shutout.
"We're really looking to
play defensive soccer right
now," said Weneta. "But our
strikers also did a good job
keeping play in [Tucker's]
half of the field."
With this win under their
belts. Central will look to con
tinue their resurgence when
they head to St. Pius X
Tuesday for a crucial region
match-up.

Crappie: Crappie fishing
is picking up. Fishing small
jigs or crappie minnows under
a bobber in five to 10 feet
should catch enough for the
dinner table. It’s best to fish
around any type of wood.
Docks, stumps or trees lying
in the waler will hold these
fish. This should continue to

"A couple of bounces the

the win here."
The breaks sure seemed to
be going against Central early.
Despite smothering the Lady
Tigers from the start, the Lady
Dawgs couldn't find an easy
shot, firing either off-target or
right at the Tucker goalkeeper.
Then, with five minutes
left in the first half. Tucker
will be stocking a decent
amount of trout over the next

worms above Highway 20 or
artificial baits like Rapalas

But Central remained calm
and continued to work, finally
getting their reward with
under a minute remaining
when Moore pounced on a
loose ball in the penalty area
to tie the game at 1 -1.
The second half started in
much the same fashion, with
Central dominating play. But
this time, the Lady Dawgs
reaped the benefits early when
Perea was awarded with a
penalty kick after bursting into
the Tucker penalty area on a
long pass from Meaghann
Griffin. Picking herself up.
Perea slotted home the spot

with 29 minutes left to play.
From there. Central contin

ting solid play from a defense
that allowed a minimum of
Tucker scoring chances.
The Lady Dawgs put the
game away with four minutes
left, getting another strike
from Moore on a goal similar
to her first, as she stuck in a
loose ball following a corner
