Max Franks of Cumming was named to the dean's list. To attain the dean’s list, a student must make a grade point average of 3.5 out of a possible 4.0 while maintain ing a full academic load. Gregory Stone of Cumming was named to the merit's list. To attain the meritfs list, a student must make a grade point average of at least 3.5 of a possible 4.0 while carrying less than a full academic load. Georgia College & State University ... in Milledgeville announced that Jennifer Jacobs, Jason Marshall. Kristin Norwood and Brittany Thompson, all of Cumming, were named to the fall 2003 dean's list. To be selected for the dean's list, a student must earn a minimum 3.2 grade point average on 12 or more hours of work attempted for the semester and have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average. Cumming resident Erin Campbell was named to the Georgia College & State University President’s List for fall semester. To be selected for the Atlanta to host educational summit The city of Atlanta will be one of only seven sites across America where the U.S. Department of Education will hold regional high school summits as part of the federal Preparing America's Future High School Initiative (PAF-HSI). The summit is scheduled for March 26-27 at the Downtown Hilton at 255 Courtland St. in Atlanta. in October 2003. U.S. Secretary of Education Rod Paige launched the PAF-HSI program in order to address the significant challenges that face contemporary high schools. Students must be in the top 20 percent of Emory College or have a 3.8 grade point average to be named to the dean’s list. Larson is the son of Cullen Chester Larson and Alola M. Larson. Richard Yonkofski Jr. ...of Cumming was inducted into the Mercer University chapter of Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society in Macon. Phi Eta Sigma invites freshman of good character who have at least a 3.75 grade point average to join the organization. Yonkofski is a freshman chemistry major. Susan Hoffman from Southern Staircase, one of Vickery Creek Elementary School’s Partners in Education, hosted a Fifth Grade Semester Honors Breakfast. At this celebration students who earned all A's on their first semester report cards were honored with breakfast for themselves and their par ents. Students also received certificates of achievement for dedication to their studies. At the end of the celebra tion, two students were also recognized as STAR students for their outstanding accom plishments.
