Polo Fields resident accused
of selling methamphetamine
By Colby Jones
Staff Writer
A homeowner in the exclu
sive Polo Fields neighborhood
in Forsyth County is accused of
trafficking methamphetamine.
Robert Michael Lowry Jr.
lived at 6690 Chelsea Gardens
Way in a neighborhood many
local doctors and attorneys call
home. Unlike his neighbors,
however, Lowry made his liv
ing selling methamphetamine
—a potent and widely abused
stimulant capable of keeping
users awake for days, according
to local law enforcement offi
cials.
“The drug affects all classes
of society,” said Maj. Gene
Moss with the Forsyth County
Sheriff’s Office.
Lowry, 41, was arrested in a
March 12 drug sting. Until
Thursday, local law enforce
ment officials had released few
details about the case, citing an
ongoing investigation.
Lowry was charged with
trafficking methamphetamine
and use of a communication
device to facilitate a crime. He
was released from custody late
Friday afternoon on a $25,000

were discussed over the phone,”
Moss said.
Lowry allegedly paid an
undercover officer $1,428 for
two ounces of methampheta
mine on March 12 at a restau
rant in the south end of the
county. Dye was with Lowry at
the restaurant.
Investigators obtained a
search warrant for Lowry’s
account at Wachovia Bank,
prompting them to seize
$14,377 in cash.
Assistant District Attorney
James A. Dunn has filed paper
work indicating he plans to seek
forfeiture of the currency, plus
the suspect’s 1998 Honda
Accord, cell phone, digital cam
era and a ,25-caliber handgun.
All of the items were used
to facilitate Lowry’s drug trade,
states legal paperwork filed by
Dunn.
The suspect’s home was not
seized and is currently up for
sale. It was unclear whether
Lowry was still living at the
home at the time of his arrest,
though property tax records list
him as the current owner.
"The investigation revealed
he was a substantial player in
the area." Moss said.
