awarded $13,731 in Phase 22 .
Under the terms of the grant
from the National Board, local
governmental or private vol
untary organizations chosen to
receive funds must: 1) be non
profit, 2) have an accounting
system and conduct an annual
audit. 3) practice nondiscrimi
nation, 4) have demonstrated
the capability to deliver food
and shelter programs, and 5) if
a private voluntary organiza
tion. must have a voluntary
bpard with an agency willing
to act as fiscal agent.
Funds will be used to pro
vide unduplicated services to
individuals and families with
supplemental food, utilities,
rent and shelter related needs
in this area.

Road Race
... the 12th annual
Challenge 5K Run and One
Mile Fun Walk/Run will be
Saturday. March 27. at the
Gainesville College in
Oakwood.
On-site registration will
begin at 1 p.m. The one mile
fun race will begin at 2 p.m..
and the 5K Challenge will
start at 2:30 p.m. The preregis
tration fee is sls, and the race
day registration fee is $lB.
Preregistration forms may be
obtained at www.challenged
child.org.
All participants will
receive a t-shirt, free fluids
and food. All finishers of the
one mile fun race will receive
a ribbon.
In the 5K Challenge,
plaques w ill be awarded to the
top three males and females in
each of 14 age categories.
Additionally, plaques will be
awarded for top three
male/female best time and
overall male/female master.
This event is sponsored by
Harris Calorific, and all pro
ceeds will benefit Challenged
Child and Friends, a non-prof
it early intervention center for
young children with develop
mental delay s and disabilities.

Each student has a computer
with high-speed Internet con

The AARP Tax Aide
Program
... will offer free income
tax service for low income and
senior taxpayers, will be at the
Cumming Public Library' on
Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2
p.m. through April 5. No
appointment necessary, you
just sign-in and taxpayers will
be taken care of in order of
arrival. It is necessary for all
taxpayers using this free serv
ice to bring their Social
Security card(s) along with
last year's tax returns. This
w ill assist the Tax-Aide volun
teers in properly completing
this year’s returns.
