Smith said that getting approval from the Justice Department will take approxi mately 40 days. He said that another change, which is unre lated to the redistricting, will move the polling place in the Johns Creek precinct from the Lowe’s store to Johns Creek Baptist Church. He said that the church offers a larger space with ample parking. Some voters currently voting at the St. Mario precinct will be moved into the Johns Creek voting location. Smith predicted that the changes can be easily accco modated by the touch-screen voting system which was first used in the 2002 elections. Once approved, the elec tions official said that new voter registration cards would be mailed to the county’s 60,000 registered voters.
