Volunteers also visited several local assisted living centers and held ice cream socials for their residents. As methamphetamine use in Forsyth County continues to Alleged drunk driver hits sheriff’s deputy By Nicole Green Staff Writer An alleged drunk driver struck, but did not injure, a sheriff’s deputy in south Forsyth County last week, resulting in an arrest after a short car chase. Deputy Richard Doyle was conducting a traffic stop on McFarland Road near Ga. 400 around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, according to the incident report. A passing motorist alerted the deputy that the driver of an approaching white Mercedes was possibly under the influ ence of alcohol. Sharon Alexander, 43, of Alpharetta was driving a Mercedes with a flat tire west bound on McFarland Road. The car was swerving all over the road, the deputy’s report said. While standing next to his vehicle with blue lights flash ing, Doyle signaled the car to stop by using his flashlight. As Alexander drove by, the passen ger side of her car hit the deputy’s right arm. The deputy, barely injured, raced to his patrol cruiser and chased Alexander’s vehicle down McFarland. He caught the suspect when she tried to turn around in a parking lot at 857 McFarland Road, the report states. The sheriff’s office impounded the car and confis cated the drugs and alcohol. Lt. Mark Flowers returned to the side of the original traffic stop on McFarland Road. He issued a warning and sent the driver on his way. Alexander paid $3,700 in bond and was released from the Forsyth County Detention Center on Friday.
