PAGE 4A FORSYTH COUNTY NEWS - Wednesday, April 7,2004 Two Forsyth teachers named state science teachers of the year Forsyth County was the only school district to produce multiple district winners as well as multiple state winners at this year’s Georgia Science Teachers Association Awards. Three Forsyth County sci ence teachers were honored at the awards reception in Macon. Teachers Colby Counter and Bill Schuyler were named Georgia Science Teachers of the Year and Donna Governor was honored for being District 2 Middle School Teacher of the Year. Counter is a fifth grade teacher at Sawnee Elementary School and Schuyler is a biol- School notes Sawnee EMC ... Rebecca Gaal of Forsyth Central and Kaitlin Pniewski of South Forsyth High School were selected to represent Sawnee EMC dur ing the 2004 National Rural Electrification Association Washington Youth Tour. Gaal and Pniewski will join stu dents from across the nation in a tour of an EMC and Washington. Students get a first hand look at government in action, visit with senators and repre sentatives and tour monu ments and museums. Nicole Gabrielle Runfola ... of Cumming, has been awarded an academic schol arship for the fall 2004 aca demic year from Pfeiffer University. PTA Council Legislative Committee ... Chairperson Sharon Kasica and President Becky Martin accepted the first place District Award in Legislation and Arts in Education for the work of the Legislative Coalition and Council. Sharon also received spe cial recognition with an Honorary PTA Lifetime Membership Award for out standing service to children and youth in her work with both the PTA and PTO schools in our county.
