• Baby Essentials Help
to prevent unnecessary anxiety
by practicing important skills
ahead of time! Learn safe
methods of diapering, holding,
bathing and feeding a new
born. Other issues include a
discussion of infant cues and
characteristics, signs of illness
and methods of enhancing
your infant’s development.
This class has a fee and will
be Sunday. April 25. from 4-7
p.m.
• Childbirth Preparation
This five-class series, with low
instructor to participant ratios,
is an overview of what to
expect and what your options
are regarding labor, childbirth
and postpartum issues. Taught
by internationally certified
childbirth educators. We’ll
offer you the knowledge you
need to be an active partici
pant in your baby's birth and
allow for practice of the skills
that can help to make this
experience the wonderful
memory you want it to be.
This class will be Mondays,
April 12, 19 and 26. from
6:30-8:30 p.m.
• Weekend Childbirth
Preparation This two-ses
sion version of our regular
Childbirth preparation class
for couples who are unable to
attend classes for five consec
utive weeks. This format is
fast-paced and recommended
only for those who thrive in an
intense, concentrated environ
ment. This class has a fee and
will be offered Friday. April
23. and Saturday. April 24.
• CPR: Infant Be pre
pared: Learn CPR and chok
ing management techniques
for infants (birth to 1 year of
age). Certified instructors will
also discuss safety measures
that may help you to avoid the
need for CPR Note: This
class is designed for those
who do not need to be CPR
certified. This class has a fee
and will be offered Sunday.
April 25, from 1-3 p.m.
• Breastfeeding
Moms/Couples This five
hour class will briefly discuss
the many benefits of breast
feeding then focus on the
knowledge and skill to help
you succeed. The couples’
class includes a discussion of
how partners can support both
mom and baby. Taught by a
board-certified lactation con
sultant with low instructor to
participant ratio. This class
has a fee and will be offered
Saturday, April 17. from 9
am. to 1 p.m.
• Boot Camp for New
Dads New dads will find
answers to their questions and
concerns in this two-hour
workshop taught by other
fathers. Utilizing a man-to
man approach, veteran dads
and their newborns orient
rookie dads, preparing them
for holding and comforting a
real baby. The purpose is to
help dads get connected and
positively involved with their
new baby so that they can
remain a strong and construc
tive force throughout their
children’s lives. This class will
be Saturday, April 3, from 9
4.m. to noon.
• The Northeast Chapter
of the American Red Cross
... will offer the following
classes at the Chapter House,

Education Awareness Mission
will have a fund-raiser to ben
efit the Emory University
Center for Islet
Transplantation. Islet
Transplantation recipients are
now producing their own
insulin and are living injec
tion-free. The fund-raising
event will be a swim meet
competition at Grand
Cascades Swim Center on
June 14 from 3-8 p.m.
Swimmers from 10 Forsyth
County swim teams will par
ticipate and they are currently
seeking sponsors to raise
money for this cause, individ
ual and business sponsorships
are welcome. The public is
invited to attend and join in
the raffle featuring great
prizes, the silent auction for
exciting items, and other
activities for young and old.
