Day Extravaganza on Sunday,
April 18. from 2-4 p.m.The
focus of the day is children
and putting a fun spin on the
serious topic of encouraging
stewardship of the Earth.

and games, in addition to live
performances by “Step It Up
5.” the kids country music
singing and dancing group and
by “The Super Silly Sassafrass
Alligator Show.” The preserve

Animal Rescue Fair

April 18 at the Cumming
Fairgrounds, 235 Castleberry

April 18, from noon to 5 p.m.
This year a craft show will
also be featured. There will
be entertainment provided by
various talented community
groups, a live and silent auc
tion with items from business
es in the community, a moon
walk, arts and crafts show, a
raffle for a 2004 Nissan Sentra
and other events. “Tasting
Tickets” will be sold at the

AARP Driver Safety pro
gram
... a one-day class will be
offered Saturday, April 24,
from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the
Northside Hospital Forsyth,
4100 Northside Medical
Center Dr. in Cumming. The
refresher course is open to
AARP and non-AARP mem
bers. Though the material is
designed primarily for drivers
age 50 and over, younger driv
ers may attend. It provides
many ideas on how to avoid
accidents, drive safely and
update the motor vehicle laws.
Participants who complete the
eight hours of instruction are
eligible for a discount on their
automobile insurance premi
um. The course must be
renewed every three years. For

Norman’s Landing
... will have its eighth
annual "Tax Relief Tuesday”
on Tuesday, April 27, at the
Chestatee Golf Club in
Dawsonville. The entry fee for
the event is $275 per golfer
and corporate sponsorships
are available for $ 1,200. For
the past eight years Norman’s
Landing has raised more than
$190,000 for The United Way
of Forsyh County. Lunch and
dinner will be provided by
Norman's Landing. Chestatee

Broadway
... is coming to
Dawsonville. North Georgia
will be treated to a special
evening of musical theater on
May 1 when the Dawson
Community Chorale and the
NGCSU Madrigal Singers
will present their spring con
cert “A Night on Broadway.”
The concert will feature
selections from shows such
as “Show Boat,” “Fiddler on
the Roof,” "Phantom of the
Opera,” “Les Miserables,"
and many other popular
Broadway musicals.
The concert will be under
the direction of Dr. Lee G.
Barrow, and accompanist of
Mrs. Tricia Wester.
The concert will be at 7:30
p.m. in the main sanctuary of
Dawsonville First Baptist
Church on Hwy. 9 North.
Admission is free; donations
are encouraged.

Community Band

Day concert on Sunday, May
9, at 3 p.m. at the Sawnee
Cultural Arts Center, 1090

Selections will include every
thing from symphonic and
classical numbers to
Broadway showtunes, ragtime
and jazz. A very special fea
ture will be "St. Louis Blues,”
a tribute to the mother of
Music Director, Alice Lewise
Bryan. “Mom enjoyed the
piece so much and wanted to
hear the band play it that she
bought the music and donated
it to the band.” Plan to bring
Mom for this special after
noon performance in addition
to taking her out for dinner to
celebrate Mother’s Day. All
ladies will be honored with a
long-stemmed rose and a
reception following the con
cert. Admission is free.
