John P. Cathcart. 84, of
Cumming died Thursday. April
8, 2004. Mr. Cathcart was a
member of the Rainbow
Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife
of 57 years, Edith Bagwell
Cathcart of Cumming; sons
and daughters-in-law, John
Sidney and Gloria Cathcart of
Cumming and David Alan and
Cathy Cathcart of Tallahassee,
Fla.; grandchildren. Brian
Cathcart and Christy Cathcart
both of Cumming, Max
Cathcart. Isabella Cathcart and
Alex Cathcart, all of Fla.; sis
ter. Elizabeth Cathcart of
Loganville and Marie Frasier
of Winder; brother and sister
in-law, Billy and Canice
Cathcart of Loganville; several
nieces, nephews and other rel
atives also survive.
Funeral services will be
Sunday, April 11. at 2pm at
the Ingram Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. Bobby
Cagle and Father Peter Rau
officiating. Interment will fol
low at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Mr. William “Bill” J.
Fisher. 41, W4AN (ex-KM9p),
of Alpharetta died unexpected
ly April 4. 2004. He was an
enthusiastic radio amateur
whose call sign often graced
the upper echelons of the con
test results. Fisher and fellow
Georgian John Laney. K4BAI.
took the silver medal at World
Radiosport Team Champion
ship ’96 in the San Francisco
Bay area. Fisher was the
founder of Contesting.com
Web site and helped to
establsih eHam.net Amateur
Radio site in 1999.
Memorial services were
Saturday, April 10. at the
McDonald and Son Funeral
Home Chapel.

John Raymond Martin, 73,
of Cumming died Friday. April
9. 2004. Mr. Martin was a
member of Concord Baptist
Church in Gwinnett County.
He was preceded in death by
his parents Toy and Ruby
Martin; sister. Joyce Martin
and brothers, Mack and
Millard Martin.
Survivors include his chil
dren, Richard and Loretta
Hobson of Cumming, Jamie
and Tammy Sosebee of
Alpharetta: grandchildren.
Amanda and Andrew Hobson.
Brittany and Brandon Sosebee;
sisters and brothers-in-law,
Bonnie Forrest of Fairburn.
Eva and Donald Holtzclaw of
Dawsonville; brothers- and
sisters-in-law, Larry Martin of
Cumming. Hubert Martin of

Ray Noble, 71, of
Dawsonville died
Wednesday, April 7, 2004.
Born in Fort
Gay, W.Va.. he
lived in
Lumpkin
veteran! County for the
past 12 years
having moved from Dawson
County. Mr. Noble retired
from Universal Rubber
Company and was a U.S.
Army veteran of the Korean
Conflict. He was preceded in
death by his daughter, Sandra
Westmoreland Noble; par
ents, Jennings and Mary
Noble.
Survivors include his
daughters, Nancy Warren of
Dawsonville. Nora Glenn of
Dahlonega; sons, Ray Noble
Jr. of Kingsland, Texas,
Eddie Noble of Wayne,
W.Va., Terry Thornton of
Dawsonville; sisters, Ellen
Sheppard of Fort Gay. W.Va.,
Dockie Stewart of Galion,
Ohio. Nora Hoyt of Deer
Park. Texas, Mandy
Thompson of Wayne. W.Va.,
Jewel Merritt of
Dawsonville; brothers, Ed
ward Noble of Fort Gay.
W.Va.. Jennings Noble Jr. of
Pasadena. Texas; nine grand
children; 18 great-grandchil
dren; two great-great-grand
children; and a number of
other relatives also survive.
Funeral services were
Saturday. April 10. at the
Bethel Baptist Church in
Forsyth County with the
Revs. James W'heeler and
Melvin Richards officiating.
Interment followed in the
church cemetery.

Dawsonville is in charge of

Junior Mathis
Mr. Junior Mathis, 68, of
Cumming died Thursday,
April 8, 2004. Mr. Mathis was
a mechanic with American
Proteins for a number of
years and was also a grading
contractor. He was a member
of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife
of 50 years. Opal Mathis of

Because of her affliction,
