The idea is to get together periodically for fun events, fundraising and diabetes advo cacy work and, most impor tant, to let the children know they are not tackling this alone. We can divide the group by age if appropriate. This is also a great way for teenage diabetics to pick up some babysitting jobs. Each year, about 12,000 people in the United States will become paralyzed by spinal cord injuries, and another 500,000 will acquire a brain injury. Fifty percent of these injuries will happen to young people between the ages of 15 and 24. By working with area mid dle and high schools, a young person with a spinal cord injury educates students on avoiding violence and promoting safety in driving, diving, hunting, bicycle riding to reduce the number of spinal cord and brain injuries. Diabetes Support Group ... meets each month to dis cuss how to maintain your dia betes and stay healthy. The group meets on the sec ond Monday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Forsyth County Health Department. The pro gram is headed by a registered dietitian and a registered nurse. Each month the program assists people in gaining skills and knowledge to help control dia betes and their general health. This month’s program is on nutrition and the guest speaker will offer various programs, especially for diabetes w|io tra ditionally cannot get any type of health care benefits. Everyone is invited. Sheriff’s investigators led by Detective Jason Burndrett continue to interview friends and acquaintances of Endres at the new search operations center at 304 W. Main St. in Cumming. Anyone with information on Endres or the suspect is asked to call the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office at (770) 781-2222. A 55.000 reward is offered for infor mation leading to Endres’ recovery.
