Broadway
... is coming to
Dawsonville. North Georgia
will be treated to a special
evening of musical theater on
May 1, when the Dawson
Community Chorale and the
NGCSU Madrigal Singers will
present their spring concert “A
Night on Broadway." The con
cert will feature selections from
shows such as "Show Boat."
"Fiddler on the Roof,"
“Phantom of the Opera.” "Les
Miserables,” and many other
popular Broadway musicals.
The concert will be under
the direction of Dr. Lee G.
Barrow. and accompanist of
Mrs. Tricia Wester.
The concert will be at 7:30
p.m. in the main sanctuary of
Dawsonville First Baptist
Church on Hwy. 9 North.
Admission is free; donations
are encouraged.

"Let Freedom Ring"
... a National Day of Prayer
Walk will be May 6 from 10
a m. to 12:30 p.m. beginning
at the Mount Pisgah United
Methodist Church. 2850 Old
Alabama Rd.. Alpharetta, at
the sanctuary/north Campus.
Walk the Newtown/Alpharetta
Community. Prayers for
America, unity of churches,
schools, assisted living. Red
Cross, the government, and
many other national organiza
tions.
The walk is approximately
one mile. There will be a short
prayer service in the sanctuary
to begin the walk. Only chil
dren that are young enough
for strollers are allowed on the
walk. We w ill have the walk
rain or shine. If it is raining,
we w ill have the event inside
the gathering area near the
sanctuary. Please feel free to
invite anyone that may be
interested in this walk. All
churches are invited. We wel-
come you to dress comfort
ably and use patriotic attire.

Walk for Life
... Whispering Hope
Women’s Resource and
Pregnancy Center’s inaugural
Walk For Life, Saturday,
May 8. Registration will
begin at 9 a.m. with the walk
at 10 a.m. During that hour
one of the mothers will give
her personal testimony. The
walk route will loop around
the facility at 133 Samaritan
Dr. in Cumming. We invite
you to take a tour of the cen
ter following the walk.
Whispering Hope offers com
passionate. confidential
counseling and support serv
ices to women in the commu
nity facing unwanted or
unexpected pregnancy. This
year’s Walk For Life will
help raise the necessary fund
ing to continue providing our
services free of charge to
those in our community.
Special prizes will be award
ed for the two walkers in the
following age groups who
raise the most funding: adult,
teen and child. Pledge forms
are now available, for more

AARP Driver Safety
... a one-day class is being
offered Thursday, May 13,
from 8:30 a m. until 5 p.m. at
the L.W. McDonald and Son
Funeral Home reception area
located at 150 Sawnee Drive.
This refresher course is open
to AARP and non-AARP
members. Though the materi
al is designed primarily for
drivers ages 50 and over,
younger drivers may attend.
It provides many ideas on
how to avoid accidents, drive
safely and updates the motor
vehicle laws. Participants
who complete the eight hours
of instruction are eligible for
a discount on their automo
bile insurance. The course
must be renewed every three

Family YMCA

camp for kids at Eagle Point
on Lake Lanier from 9 a.m.
to 4 p.m. May 31-Aug. 6 for
