Sounds of Sawnee
Community Band
... will have a Mother’s
Day concert on Sunday, May
9, at 3 p.m. at the Sawnee
Cultural Arts Center, 1090
Tribble Gap Rd. in Cumming.
Selections will include every¬
thing from symphonic and
classical numbers to
Broadway showtunes, rag¬
time and jazz. A very special
feature will be “St. Louis
Blues,” a tribute to the mother
of Music Director, Alice
Lewise Bryan. “Mom enjoyed
the piece so much and wanted
to hear the band play it that
she bought the music and
donated it to the band.”
Plan to bring Mom for this
special afternoon perform¬
ance in addition to taking her
out for dinner to celebrate
Mother’s Day. All ladies will
be honored with a long¬
stemmed rose and a reception
following the concert.
Admission is free.
Relay for Life 2004

Community Spend the Night
Party and Celebration of Life
Party sponsored by the
American Cancer Society.
Teams from churches,
schools, businesses and civic
groups spend the night rais¬
ing money to fight cancer.
There will be plenty of food,
games, family activities,
music and other entertain¬
ment. It will be at the
Cumming Fairgrounds on
Friday, May 14 beginning at
6 p.m. and will end Saturday,
May 15, at 7:30 a.m.
Sponsors are needed for the
Relay T-shirt.
There will be a sit-down
dinner for all survivors and
their guest along with a
Victory Lap walked by the
survivors. Luminaries can be
purchased in honor of sur¬
vivors and in memory of our
loved ones we have lost to
