— The FCHS will have its
first black tie extravaganza
and silent auction fundraiser
to benefit homeless pets. To

FCHS is in desperate need of
volunteers, whether it’s just
one hour per month or several
days. How can you help? We
need assistance with the fol¬
lowing: spending quality time
with the animals; pet mainte¬
nance; being a foster “parent;”

transporting animals to and
from adoption days; and
building/lawn maintenance

— Foster care is needed for
each and every pet for the first
10 days after being introduced
into the program. This 10-day
period is a time of quarantine
to evaluate the health and per¬
sonality of the pet and to pro¬
tect the other pets in the
Adoption Center from com¬
municable disease. We desper¬
ately need quarantine homes
with those who have older or

... free education childcare
programs offered to low
income families, which offers
high-quality education in a
loving environment; skilled,
professional teachers and
assistants; parenting educa¬
tion; comprehensive health
and mental health services,
including services to women
before, during and after preg¬
nancy; vision and dental
screenings; nutritious meals;
family support services. The
head start program welcomes
and fully includes children
with disabilities.
• How do I know if I quali¬
fy? The program is an
income-eligible program. The
income is based on the family
size. Anyone can apply, how¬
ever, approval is based on “the
greatest need” as the available
spots are limited.
• What will I need to bring
when I fill out an applica
tiops? Child’s birth certificate,
copy of the Social Security
card, Immunization form No.
3231, proof of income for the
past 12 months and a copy of
the child’s insurance card. If
you don’t have some of the
items, there may be other doc¬
umentation the office can use
to get the process started.
The Forsyth County Early
Head Start/Head Start, 133

offers classes for infants and
toddlers. Services are also
provided to pregnant moms.
Classes are open year-round.
Headstart classes are for 3 and
4 year olds and are open year

Start/Georgia Pre-K, 136 Elm
St. in Cumming, offers classes
to children age 4. The calen¬
dar coincides with the Forsyth
County Schools. The program

Kid Komedy Camp

stand-up and skit comedy
camp for kids (ages 8-12)
meets Monday through Friday
from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a
“Graduation Show” on
Saturday at 3 p.m. The show
features the kids performing
original stand-up comedy, as
well as routines and songs
honoring classic comedians.
Shows are highly entertaining
and open to the general public.
