Northside Hospital
Celebration of Lights
... the annual event spon¬
sored by Northside Hospital
will take place Thursday, Dec.
1 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at 1200
Northside Forsyth Dr. in
Cumming. The hospital group
will continue its 17-year tradi¬
tion of lighting the December
sky with its annual tree light¬
ing festival as the three
Atlanta-area locations of
Northside Hospital combine
their events into one fantastic
celebration at Northside
Hospital-Forsyth.
Everyone is invited to
enjoy the holidays with food,
face painters, clowns and
entertainment from local
school bands, choruses and
dancers. The big man himself,
Santa Claus, will be there to
take pictures with the children.
Lights on the tree can be
purchased on honor or memo¬
ry of someone who has been
affected by cancer, and pro¬
ceeds from the event will ben¬
efit the Northside Hospital
Cancer Care Program. For

Festival of Trees
... Unicoi State Park &
Lodge is partnering with the
White County Chamber of
Commerce and the Alpine
Helen/White County CVB to
host the “Festival of Trees”
through Dec. 10. Visitors can
choose their favorite tree and
place a bid on it. The winning
bids will be announced
Saturday, Dec. 10 and the
winners will take home the
decorated trees and trimmings.
No admission is required, and
the trees will be on display for
everyone to enjoy. All pro¬
ceeds go to White County

WinterFest at
Tanglewood Farm
... step back in time to the
1800s and visit Christmas past
in this Wild West town.
Tanglewood Farm is home to
more than 100 miniature farm
animals, including horses,
donkeys, cows, sheep, goats,
pigs and more. WinterFest
begins lasts through Saturday,
Dec. 31. Hours are Wednesday
through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5
p.m. open Christmas Eve and
New Year’s Eve until noon.
Closed Thanksgiving Day and
Christmas Day. Last tickets are
sold at 4 p.m. Cost is $8 per
person, (free for infants under
one) and includes tour and
pony ride. Hayride is $2 per
person. Tanglewood Farm is

SFHS Habitat for
Humanity Club
...will host an arts and
crafts show in the lobby of
South Forsyth High School’s
Performing Arts Center Dec.
1-3 from 6:30 p.m., coinciding
with the Southside Dance
Company performance. All art
pieces are created by students
and all proceeds will go to
Habitat for Humanity, an
organization that builds houses
for those less fortunate. For

cooked breakfast, photos with
Santa, and children’s craft
activities. There will also be

Plains Youth Choir will sing

Girls on the Run Forsyth
... the kick-off event for
Girls on the Run Forsyth is
scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 3
from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Old
Atlanta Road and McGinnis
Ferry Road in Cumming. The
family fun day is sponsored by
New Balance Athletic Shoe,
Inc., Girls on the Run Forsyth
and the Shops of Shakerag.
The goal is to combine the
power of running, workouts
and life skill games to promote
the development of girls in
grades 3-5. Bob Lancer, host
of Parenting Solutions on
WSB Radio, will speak at
12:30. Pre-registration will be
available for the Spring
Session of Girls on the Run,
which will take place February
through May 2006. The twice
a-week curriculum combines
training for a 3.1 mile
run/walk event with social and
physical workouts. For more
