• Sponsor-a-Senior — You
can make a difference in the
life of a local senior citizen
by taking part in the Sponsor
a-Senior program. Tags are
now on or near the trees at
the County Administration
Building, Courthouse, Fire
Department Headquarters,
Parks & Recreation Center
and Sheriff’s Office (down¬
town location). Each tag con¬
tains a number and the name
of a local senior citizen as
well as one or two gift ideas.
Please bring the gift, wrapped
and including the tag (or
another tag with the senior’s
name and number) attached
to the outside of the package
to the Forsyth County Senior
Center on Dec. 14-16.
• Home-Delivered Meal .
Gift Certificates — As the
holiday season approaches,
please consider providing a
meal or two for homebound
senior citizens in Forsyth
County. Home-delivered meal
gift certificates can be pur¬
chased now through the
Forsyth County Senior
Center, and meals will be
delivered through the Meals
on Wheels program. The cost
of one meal is $2.92 and all
gifts are tax-deductible.

• Self-Defense Hapkido
Classes — Adult Hapkido is a
Korean Martial Art which

Home Heating Help
Available
... for the low income, eld¬
erly and disabled. Low-income
elderly (every household mem¬
ber must be age 65 and older)
and totally homebound people
can apply for help paying their
home heating bills. The
Georgia Department of Human
Resources will help pay heat¬
ing costs for gas, electricity,
wood, coal or kerosene. One¬
time payments will be made
primarily by checks issued to
home energy suppliers on
behalf of eligible households.
Eligibility for the program is
based on the income of all
members of the household. All
eligible households must be
responsible for their home
heating costs.
When applying for assis¬
tance, persons must present
age verification and written
proof of income for all house¬
hold members. This can be a
paycheck stub, public assis¬
tance check or unemployment ,
check. Applicants must also
supply a documented Social
Security number for each per¬
son in the household and a
most recent home heating bill.
Depending on availability
of funds, the regular program
will open to the general public
on Dec. 1. For information on

Wilderness First Aid
Training
... the NEGA American
Red Cross will be having a
Wilderness First Aid class open
to all interested. The class pur¬
pose is to teach first aid skills
and knowledge for settings in
which emergency care is
delayed for long periods, or
self-evacuation is necessary.
The recommended minimum
age is 15. Participants will be
certified for three years. The
class will be held in Cumming
and cost will include all class
materials and training. The cost
is $70.00 per person for the 16
