Children’s Diabetes
Support Group
... Do you have a school
age child with diabetes? I am
interested in forming a fel¬
lowship group for children
and their parents coping with
this disease.
The idea is to get together
periodically for fun events,
fund raising and diabetes
advocacy work — and, most
important, to let the children
know they are not tackling
this alone.
We can divide the group
by age, if appropriate.
This is also a great way
for teenage diabetics to pick
up some babysitting jobs.
If interested, contact
Pamela Bartz at (110) 205-
6509 or by e-mail at

Think First, Injury
Prevention Program
... each year, about
12,000 people in the United
States will become paralyzed
by spinal cord injuries, and
another 500,000 will acquire

ages of 15 and 24.
By working with area
middle and high schools, a
young person with a spinal
cord injury educates students
on avoiding violence and pro¬
moting safety in driving, div¬
ing, hunting, bicycle riding to
reduce the number of spinal
cord and brain injuries.

uling an injury prevention
program may call Shepherd
Center’s injury prevention
