Veterans of Foreign War Poppies ... The poppy is recognized as the memorial flower in countries throughout the world. Since 1922, the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States has conduct¬ ed an annual distribution of buddy poppies to raise funds for its charitable programs on behalf of the needy and dis¬ abled veterans, and the wid¬ ows and orphans of deceased veterans. On May 24, the Cumming VFW post and the VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary will be distributing poppies to be worn to commemorate all those who have died in war for our coun¬ try.
