income families that could not
afford to provide their child

on June 9-20, June 23-July 4
and July 7-18. Parents are

seniors interested in having a

The goal of the “Friends of
Seniors” program is to
decrease social isolation for
seniors. The volunteers for
this program enjoy being with
others and conversing on the
phone or in person at the
senior’s home. Volunteers are
matched with seniors using
similar interests, hobbies and
demographics. Some activities
that volunteers and seniors
may enjoy together include
playing cards, taking walks,
reading or talking. For more

demonstration and other live

The Upper Etowah River
Alliance
... is offering a canoe trip
on the Etowah River on June
14 to anyone interested in a
day outside. They will canoe
in the Dawson Forest part of
the river, good for people with
all skill levels in canoeing.
They will use Appalachian
Outfitters, who will supply the
canoes, paddles and other
necessary equipment as well
as shuttle service between the
put in point to the take out.
The trip will cost $15 per per¬
son, up to $30 per canoe. For

Library this summer with
Buggy Tales. Buggy Tales
AM is designed for ages 2-6
and Buggy Tales PM is
designed for ages 4-8. “AM”
programs are 25 minutes long
and feature short, colorful
books, music, puppet shows
and movement. “PM” pro¬
grams are 35 minutes long,
and feature longer picture
books and word games, along
with music, puppet shows and
movement. No registration is
necessary. Early arrival is sug¬
gested.

McCloy, recently
traveled for an
invitational per¬
formance at
Colonial
Williamsburg in
Virginia. The
band performed
a concert of
American patri¬
otic and popular
music April 6 at
Merchant’s
Square. Students also received a guided tour of the famous landmarks that make up
America’s “Living Museum” including the Governor’s Palace, jail, Capitol building and
various trade houses including the apothecary, blacksmith and silversmith.
