Cumming seeks
swim proposals
Aquatic center
remains on track
By Crystal Ledford
crystalledford@forsythnews.com
The Cumming Recreation and Parks
Department is looking for proposals
from swim team organizations to use
the city’s new aquatic center.
The $15 million facility, being built
on a 70-acre site off Pilgrim Mill Road,
is slated to be finished in May.
Greg Little, department director, said
gauging interest from swim organiza¬
tions is “one of the initial steps” in get¬
ting the center up and running.
“We want to have a year-round pro¬
gram at the facility, but we can’t have
40 different teams of 20 different swim¬
mers,” he said, noting that the depart¬
ment likely will accept up to three pro¬
posals.
The organizations will provide full
service competitive swimming for all
age groups at the center, which will fea¬
ture a 50-meter competition pool, as
well as one for physical therapy and an
outdoor leisure pool with a children’s
play area.
High school swim teams will be han¬
dled separately.

that,” Little said.
