OBITUARIES
Dorothy (Nicky) and George Dalusky
Longtime residents of Forsyth County, Nicky, 86,
passed away Dec. 16, 2011. and was followed in death
88, on Jan. 18, 2012. They were married
for 60 years and were mem¬
bers of the Gumming United
Methodist Church.
George was a career mili¬
tary officer with 22 years of
active duty service attaining
the rank of Lieutenant
Colonel. He was a combat
infantryman in Belgium and
France during World War II
and Army aviator during the
Korea conflict. His military awards include Legion of
Merit. Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster. Combat
Infantryman Badge, National Defense Service Medal
with Oak Leaf Cluster, World War 11 Victory Medal,
Korean Service Medal, and UN Service Medal.
He retired from active military duty to the Atlanta
area in 1%8 and worked for the State of Georgia
Vocational Education System in administration and
management until 1985. He served as acting director
of the Atlanta Area Technical School and director of
the evening program at Pickens County Technical
School,
Nicky (known as “Aunt Dot” to her many nieces and
•nephews) was a registered nurse who served in the
Army Nurse Corps from 1947-1952, attaining the rank
of First Lieutenant. She was stationed at the VA
Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., treating World War 11
wounded veterans and the Army 98th General Hospital
in Munich, Germany, where Supreme Allied
Commander Dwight Eisenhower was her most famous
patient.
Nicky and George were married in Munich in June
of 1951. She resigned her military commission shortly
thereafter and worked as a civilian nurse in military
hospitals around the world wherever George was sta¬
tioned.
Follow ing George’s military retirement in 1968,
Nicky worked as a Fulton County Public Health Nurse
for a number of years and afterwards in the Silver and
Fine China department at Rich’s until her retirement.
George and Nicky are survived by their children,
Jeff Dalusky of Marietta, Amy Reeves of Dawsonville,
Mark Dalusky of Athens; grandchildren, Ryan Tate of
Gumming, Kyle Tate of Fort Bragg, N.C., Gabe
Dalusky of Sandy Springs; great-grandchildren,

The Georgia National Cemetery in Canton will be
George and Nicky’s final resting place. The schedule
for the memorial service and military honors ceremo¬
ny has yet to be determined.

Nancy Ruth Long
Nancy Ruth Long, age 60, of Ball Ground passed
away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012. She was born Nov. 28,
1951. She was a graduate of Sam Rayburn High
School in Pasadena, Texas, and a 15-year employee of
Bank of America. Nancy w as active in The Boy Scouts
of America for many years.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry W.
Long Jr. of Ball Ground; mother, Wilma L. Jones of
Pasadena, Texas; children. Shannon Michelle Cooper
of Marion, lnd., William Dean Long of San Diego,
Calif., James Walton Long of Oceanside, Calif.; sis¬
ters, Elizabeth Marshall of California, Charlotte
MeComb of Texas, Teresa Gerig of Texas; brothers,
Gerald Loyd of Texas, Donis Jones of Texas; grand¬
children, Savannah, Madison, Rebekah and Evelyn
Cooper, Kaylin and Reagan Long; numerous nieces,
nephews and other loving relatives also survive.
Funeral services will he held Saturday, Jan. 28, at 4
p.m. in the Chapel of Ingram Funeral Home. The fami¬
ly will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home
Saturday from 2 p.m. until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may he made to Wounded

Paula Sanchez, age 62, of Gumming passed away

During its Jan. 19 meeting, the Forsyth County commission recognized
Linda Whittle, fourth from left, for her years of service to the Department of
Family and Children Services board member. Whittle sat on the board from
1991 to 2011, also having served as chairwoman.

Marilyn Ruth Staebell
Marilyn Ruth Staebell, loving mother and wife, age
79, of Gumming passed aw ay Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012.
She was born Aug. 22, 1932. She was
a member of Good Shepherd Catholic
Church. Marilyn loved sewing, quilt
mg and golfing. She was preceded in
death by her parents, Herman and
Genevieve Jahn; and her brother,
Daniel Jahn.
She is survived by her husband,
Dick Staebell; daughter, Patti Staebell
of Gumming; daughters and sons-in
law, Karen and Jim Thompson of
Gainesville, Nancy and Gary Lewis of North Carolina;
sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Wanda Staebell of
Lilburn, Bill and Marie Staebell of Florida, David and
Sheila Staebell of Monroe; 12 grandchildren, Joey
Staebell, Chelsea and Lauren Thompson, Jenna, Jason
and Jordan Lewis. Matthew and Megan Staebell, Dae,
Yung, Aaron and Beau Staebell; and other loving rela¬
tives also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 27, at
10:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with
Father Frank Richardson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St.
Vincent DePaul Society at Good Shepherd Catholic
Church.
