SCHOOL NOTES
Jonathan F. Campos, a seventh grader at
Pinecrest Academy, was invited by Duke
University to participate in its national
talent search. He was required to take the
SAT due to his high score and perfor
mance in the sixth grade Stanford 10 (97
national percentile) exam. Campos
scored 510 in the reading and writing
qualifying him to be a state medal recipi¬
ent. He will be honored in a formal cere
mony at a local university before the end
of the school year. His total SAT score was
1450.
Twenty-four Pinecrest Academy high
school students were inducted into the
National Hispanic Honor Society at a
special Induction Ceremony and
Spanish Mass. The following students
were inducted. Heather Bailer, Danielle
Bartling, Olivia Beck, Abigail Bohn,
Amanda Boyd, Olivia Fleck, Fernando
Garcia-Ulloa, Robert Gilligan, Ansley
Heard, Kelly Larson, Evan Montalbano,
Lucia Nunez, Sydney Ojeda, Maried
Perez, Melisa Perez, Julia Petros,
Mercedes Ponce, Kristen Rocko,
Mariana Sanchez-Mejorada, Joao
Pedro Santos Martins, Halie Schmidt,
Mary Carter Stewart, Elizabeth Stubbs
and Austin Ward. Students were selected
based on the following criteria, three con
secutive semesters with an "A" in Spanish,
interest for the language and strong moral
character.
Abbie Flint from Whitlow Elementary and
AkiTalkad from Daves Creek Elementary
schools both took home first place at the
2012 International Oratorical Contest,
recently held in Forsyth County. First run

There was a two way tie for second run¬
ner up between AlexTedesco of Shiloh
Point Elementary and Taylor Boothe of Big
Creek Elementary schools. First runner up
for the boys' competition was Connor
Sassine from Pinecrest Academy and
RemingtonYoungblood from Johns Creek
Elementary school placed as second run¬
ner-up.
Artwork by Sarah Stubbs titled "Wall of
Ignorance" was selected to be submitted
into the national Catholic Campaign for
Human Development Multimedia Youth
Art Contest. Stubbs, a student at
Pinecrest Academy, recently had her
work on display at the Archdiocese of
Atlanta reception.The national grand
prize winner will receive a $500 cash
award and a $500 gift to be designated
in the winner's name to a campaign
funded organization.
Forsyth Central High School's theater
department will present "Footloose"
today and Saturday,Thursday, April 27
and 28. The stage adaptation of the movie
will be performed at the school's perform¬
ing arts center.The production is also ask¬
ing audience members to partake in its
"Footloose and Hunger Free" effort by
bringing non-perishable items to the
show. Tickets are $7.
Studio West Productions, West Forsyth High
School's theater group, will present "The
Three Musketeers" The show will run today
through Sunday at the school.The show is
based on the Ken Ludwig novel. Tickets are
$750 for students and $11.50 for adults in
advance or S8 and $12 at the door.
