The C u m ming
Forsyth County
Chamber of Commerce
is holding an informa¬
tional meeting Tuesday
for those interested in
the organization's
upcoming visit to
Germany.
According to a release
from the chamber, the
nin e-d a v tour in
December will provide
participants an opportu¬
nity to learn about the
European nation's histo¬
ry. culture and economic
development agencies.
The meeting about the
trip, dubbed the
Discovery Excursion to
Germany, is set for 6
p m. Tuesday at the U S.
headquarters of German
manufacturer
Hansgrohe. 1490
Bluegrass Lakes Pkwy.
Chamber president
James McCoy said the
nation was chosen due
to the large presence of
international companies
operating in Forsy th.
Germany in particular
has many U.S. offices in
the county, including
Hansgrohe,
Dieffenbacher. Siemens
and Trox.
“Germany has been an
important part of our
community really since
the ’80s," McCoy said.
"So we thought it
would be a really good
idea to gather every body
in the community who
had an interest in going
to Germany.
“Maybe they've never
been, maybe they've
been a dozen times
before, but it was impor¬
tant for us to have a for¬
mal introduction of
Germany to anybody in
the community who had
an interest."
The trip will include
three nights in the tradi¬
tional Alpine village of
Oberammergau and two
nights in the heart of the
Black Forest, as well as
tours and shopping
expeditions in the his¬
toric cities of Munich,
Nuremberg, Wurzburg
and Rothcnburg.
