For more perspective, I
spoke with Kevin Byrd,
owner of Sanitation

County.
Kevin told me his fami¬
ly-owned and operated
company not only
encourages recycling, but
they also provide custom¬
ers with a large receptacle
equal in size to the gar¬
bage bin
"We want people to
recycle, first of all.
because it ts the right
thing to do. but also
because it helps our busi¬
ness.” he said.
Kevin explained that
whiie garbage is quite
expensive to dispose of,
taking rccyclables to a
center is not.
"We take all of our
recycling to Old Atlanta
Recycling." he said.
I love that Kevin’s
company is local and that

Good Shepherd
Catholic Church, 3740
HolUclaw Road, has
formed a ministry for job
seekers and will have
another local company.
Every time I talk to
Denise, 1 always think l
should be doing more in
the way of recycling.
One time she even
invited me over to her
home so 1 could see the
system she and her family
use.
It’s simple: She has
cans and bins for every¬
thing in her garage, and
then when they are full,
she takes them to the Old
Atlanta Recycling center.
She says they have little
actual garbage.
When 1 saw all that she
recycled, I'm surprised
they have any at all.
If you don’t recycle,
please if consider starting
you do recycle, ask
your garbage company if
it has the large recepta¬
cles and if not. consider
changing companies.
I will never reach
Denise's level, but I am
definitely going to try to
do more.

Follies
original coal miner's daughter.
"When they said it was country. I'm like,
'Yes. 1 want to sing country.’"
Eileen Leone has been in every Senior
Follies production.
"I don’t dare not be in them,” she said. “1
love to sing and dance and carry on. I’m a
ham.
"This year was even better because I got to
buy cowboy boots and a hat and decorate it
with leathers."
Leone said people should come to the show
to see her comedy skit, in which she tap danc¬
es in a chicken suit.
“You have to see that one,” she said. “I’m a
sexy chick. »»
Bob Radies, in his second production, said
he does "absolutely zero dancing. »*
"I have a few solos, a lot of group numbers,
and I'm the bass voice for the show," he said,
noting the best part has been watching the
show’s development.
“Just thinking about how ragged it was just
a week ago and now seeing how well it has
gelled together is the best part," he said.
Russell said the show will feature numbers
such as a scene with saloon girls and charac¬
ters such as John Wayne and May West, and
tributes to the Grand Old Opry and the televi¬
sion series “Hee Haw,
There will also be several numbers from
Broadway musicals like "Annie Get Your Gun, M
"Oklahoma,” and "Paint Your Wagon. *'
"ft’s a fast-paced show and we have lots of
talent." Russell said.
Added Radies: “Everybody here is friendly
and we just enjoy each other. Most of us aren’t
professionals, but we have a great time. >*
