Neil Diamond.
If it was a song from tlie
1960s and '7(k, chances

logue of songs penned by
Diamond is ridiculous.
He was part of the Tin
Pan Alley era in the early
1960s. The group of song
writers, including Barbara
Streisand, Neil Sedaka
and Barry Manilow, were
responsible for churning
out many of the biggest
hits of the time.

1 could honestly go on
forever talking about all
his songs, why 1 love
them, and w hich bands
did the best job covering
them But before
Diamond comes to the
Philips Arena on June 6,
there are three other
events worth noting.
First up is the Atlanta
Jazz Festival at Piedmont
Park. The event, which
started Saturday night,
will continue through
Monday with some
impressive names from
the jazz industry.
Next weekend there’s
the 97.1 Wing ’n Rock
Fest.
Now, I’m not going to

even if there was no
music (love me some
wings).

Stones, a Rolling Stones
tribute band, will be play¬

And on Sunday,
Slippery When Wet, a

Tribute bands are a
great idea for an outdoor
festival because attendees

The event will also

The Geeks.
