2B FROM 1B Travis: Yellow Jackets for first bowl win under Johnson "It’s more instinctive for me,” Travis said. “You get more contact. It's more of an NFL defense and you don’t think as much and just play. The Trojans are 0-2 in the Sun Bowl, with their most recent loss toTCU in 1998. USC allowed four teams to run for 200 yards or more this sea¬ son, including an Oregon team that racked up 426 yards on the ground, meaning Georgia Tech running backs Orwin Smith (673 yards) and Zach Laskey (637) could enjoy a big day against a porous place of my jigs and spoons with great resulted out deep. These are inexpensive and effective swim baits for probing the depths. During active feeding periods the bass have been up against steep wind blown banks and the fish will strike fast¬ er moving lures like a McStick, spinner baits and even rattling crank baits like Rattle Trap or Aruku Shad in natural shad colors. Stripers. Striper fish¬ ing should continue to be strong as long as you are able to travel around to find the active schools. Stripers go through a false spawning run up into the creeks and rivers in early spring. Before they start these runs they concen¬ trate all winter on get¬ ting fat and healthy, and you can find them both shallow and deep, but the majority of stripers will be shal¬ lower in early winter. Flat lines and planner boards are both good methods. Better yet, set a combination spread of both planner boards, fueled by a photo of an empty dining room, became a hot topic on Twitter and news out¬ lets. Kiffin said the Trojans were 30 min¬ utes tardy because of their late arrival at the airport, which pushed back the start of a late afternoon practice. Kiffin said bowl offi¬ cials were with the Trojans throughout the day. Upon seeing Georgia Tech exiting, Kiffin said he thought the teams were perhaps scheduled to arrive and depart at staggered times and was not aware there was an front seven. “I think they’re ready to go,” said Travis, who is close friends with Laskey. “They want to show how hard they’ve been working.” The Jackets may also benefit from USC’s undisciplined play. While Georgia Tech ranks 24th in fewest penalties per game, the Trojans are ranked a dis¬ mal 113th in the nation with an average of eight penalties per game for flat and down lines to cover a w ider area. Here is a neat trick that 1 use that will help you to pull multiple lines without getting tangled. Take a regular flat line (just a hook and live baitfish) and let it out about 20-30 feet of line behind your boat. Then tie a balloon to the line right where your line comes out of the tip of your rod. Then let another 50 feet of line out. When you reel in a fish, your line will just slide through and the balloon will just stay at the tip of your rod. Then you can run a regular flat line out on the same side. The line with the balloon will hold the free swimming baitfish far enough behind your flat line so they won't get tangled. I run two balloon flat lines and two standard flat lines (two rods on each side of the boat) at the same time so I have four rods going at once. 1 often run two addi¬ tional down lines from the front of the boat (one on each side). This allows me to issue until Thursday morning. “We had no intention of disrespecting any body,” A' Kiffin said. USC athletic department spokesman said that Georgia Tech had arrived earlier than scheduled. But a Georgia Tech spokes man said the Yellow Jackets were there at their appointed time, adding: “From our per¬ spective, it was not a big deal.” Kiffin also expressed disappointment about a Twitter post by defen sive lineman Leonard Williams later Wednesday evening. Williams, a freshman 66.5 yards. But for Georgia Tech to pull out the victory, it will have to contain star receiver Marqise Lee. The sophomore has 112 receptions for 1,680 yards and 14 touch¬ downs to lead the nation in receptions and is sec¬ ond for receiving yards. The Trojans will try to exploit a Tech secondary that has given up 239.2 yards per game and ranks 81st in passing efficiency defense. fish six lines at the same time without get¬ ting them tangled and greatly increases my odds. Gulls dive bombing the surface are a dead giveaway that there are loons or stripers corral¬ ling baitfish close to the service. Cast buck tails or spoons to any swirling stripers you witness or let your offering fall below loons as stripers often school below feeding birds to pick any wounded bait fish. Loons are very smart and l have never had one strike a lure, but 1 have caught a lot of stripers around loons. Trolling umbrella rigs has been working very well this past week and as stated in my past reports, it is an excel¬ lent way to cover water. If you catch a striper while pulling your umbrella rigs, circle back around because you may catch several in the same area. 1 have witnessed guides who are very proficient at trolling call out to their clients “get ready,” because they often spot the from Daytona Beach. Fla., tweeted a negative comment about the city of El Paso. He later removed the comment and apologized. Williams’ post came less than a month after Trojans linebacker Tony Burnett tweeted negative remarks about El Paso, including “no one wants to be there New Year’s Eve.” Burnett and Kiffin later apologized for the remarks. On Thursday, Kiffin said he was “very sur prised” by Williams’ tigect. “We talk about it, we address it,” he said. “You get 110 kids and, % * % % flapjhj Ycoe Tetti^ * « % *» * * Thanks for your business and support this past year. The umbrella rig fol¬ lows, then it is “fish on!” Crappie: Crappie fishing is slow, but 1 did witness a person catching from inside of his boat house. He had the heater going and the game playing while he low¬ ered his crappie min¬ nows with a split shot directly down to a brush pile 15-20 feet below the dock. You can fish the same way minus the dock by working small crappie jigs tipped with a live minnow through brush and lay down trees in the backs of the creeks. Look for baitfish in water that is stained for your best success. Trout. Trout fishing has been a little slow below Buford Dam, but there are plenty of holdover trout to be caught, so it’s still worth a try. For better luck, take a trip up to the mountains to one of the year round trout streams and fish there. The fishing has been better in the mountains due to recent rains. unfortunately, they screw up. ... Once again, another apology was sent out as soon as we got ahold of it. “It does not reflect the way our staff feels or the way that our team feels, so I was really upset with that; especially, you’d think, we would’ve learned from the last one.” Kiffin, however, indi¬ cated that no punish¬ ment was forthcoming. “You’ve got to be careful where you get into people’s rights,” he said. “You can disagree with what they’re say¬ ing, like we do, but 1 don’t think you start “It doesn’t matter who plays [quarterback],” Travis said. "We’re a dis¬ ciplined team. We have confidence no matter who starts. We’ve got a bunch of guys on the scout team that do a real good job. “They’ve got some big receivers that are going to do stuff after the catch. We have to be in pursuit and play as a team to stop their players." The 2012 Hyundai Sun Bowl will kick off at 2 p.m. on Monday. Live earthworms (where live bait fishing is permitted by law) are just about the best thing to fish because rain often washed worms into the streams. Rooster tails fished slowly in the rapids in the rivers or streams work well when the water is slightly cloudy. Bank Fishing: Many anglers are out fishing from the shores of Lake Lanier and most are targeting stripers. Even if you only catch one of the large, hardfighting fish in an outing, you can usually make a meal for the whole family. Other species can be caught in winter from the shore. If you are targeting stripers, use large shin¬ ers or trout because they will stay alive a pretty long time in a regular fiVe-gallon bucket when it is cold. If your bait dies, you can still use cut bait on a bottom rig to catch stripers and even cat¬ fish. Smaller bait like crappie minnows or medium shiners will work for a variety of species. punishing people for what they put on their social media.” “Buy Direct from the Manufacturer” il METAL ROOFING SALES.
