For whatever reason, howev¬ er, tweens can’t seem to get enough of him. Having just come last ■ month with the Jingle Ball to Philips Arena, he’ll be back Jan. 23. If that wasn’t enough Bieber fever, the young heart throb is returning in August. , t Multiple circuses and children’s shows will be sprinkled throughout the year, including: • Ringling Bros, and Barnum & Bailey Circus: Dragons and Yo Gabba Gabba in February • Pajanimals Live in March • Mary Poppins in April • Disney on Ice's Worlds of Fantasy in Mav. For the kids’ shows, though, I’m most excited to take my son to Clifford the Big Red Dog at the Cobb Energy Centre on Feb. 2. Having multiple things going on is something I'm used to. It turns out having four children in less than seven years is good training for all sorts of things in the business world, not the least of which is supreme multitask¬ ing. So if 1 am so organized, why is this always on my list? Because there are always things I don’t necessarily enjoy doing that need to be done. For exam¬ ple, I haven’t been in our attic in years. I know it is not pretty and needs to be thoroughly cleaned out. Ditto our closet. 1 am sure my chest of drawers needs to be gone through as well. Then there is always our youngest son’s closet. That actually frightens me a bit. All of those proj¬ ects are on the current 2013 list. The biggest goal for me in 2013 is completing my first cookbook. Perhaps I am saying it publicly so I will give it my full attention. 1 have been working on the book for years, testing recipes on my family .: n c W 4 GLASS TINTING Auto • Residential • Commercial Give your ride a new look * * < r: f * m 105 Enterprise Dr. Suite H Cumming, GA 30040 n 770 - 888-3939 FORSYTH COUNTY NEWS | lbrsythnews.com JENNIFER SAMI Columnist his 50th birthday, and that’s not in dog years. Clifford, who first appeared in books, was one of my favorite char¬ acters as a child. And l couldn’t be happier he’s held off on retirement long enough that I can relive that nostalgia through my son. It’s definitely not like Sesame Street and some of the Disney shows, where there are some jokes for adults hidden in the show. But for kids, it’s a lot of fun and helps promote reading. Some of the bigger shows on the horizon are the Blue Man Group and the Producers at the Fox Theatre in January, Sarah Brightman at the Fox Theatre and Bon Jovi at Philips Arena in February. In March, Jerry Seinfeld w ill be at the Fox Theatre and Eric Clapton at Gwinnett Arena. Philips Arena will also be packed in March and April with perfor¬ mances from Pink, Lady Gaga, Maroon 5 Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Rod Stewart. Most of them, with the exception of Gaga and Seinfeld, have performed in Atlanta in the past year or so. Now that three of our four chil¬ dren are basically out on their own, l want to pass on the family meals they were raised on. I have so many fond memories of cooking for our family and breaking bread together. Of course, I hope to have many more meals with our fami¬ ly and friends, but I would love to have a cookbook that contains all of those recipes. So there. I have said it to my little world, and now l have to do it. Hopefully soon I will be telling all of you about its release. Happy New Year to all of my read¬ ers! For someone trying to lose weight, if the first effort doesn’t lead to results, Porter said researching other methods or seeking professional guidance can help. Weight-loss or other health or nutrition resolutions are some of the top choices for people at the start of a new year. Michele Melton. Forsyth County extension agent, said statistics show that more than one-third of American adults are obese and nearly two thirds overweight, which make weight loss a particularly common goal. As for the timing at the start of a year, Melton said the “overindul¬ gence” during the holidays can cause people to make a weight-loss resolu¬ tion. “It’s just kind of on the heels of putting on an extra pound or two," she said. “Whether it has to do with losing weight, or being more healthy, the bottom line is lifestyle changes.” Deals or promotions from health related industries often pop up at the new year, which Melton said can also be a cause of people seeking to make those Jan. i fitness or diet IS YOUR BATHTUB EMBARRASSING? She said the “tried and true” meth¬ od of losing weight with diet and exercise is the only way to truly attain that goal in a healthy way. A resolution. Sessions said, could also be considered an “effort to change habits,” and it’s well known that old habits die hard. “Remind yourself why you’re doing this, why this is the goal, and why this is important," he said. It's also important to share that information with someone else who w ill keep you accountable.
