Gordon Knight Brown
Gordon Knight Brown, 85,
surrounded by family, passed
away peacefully to be with the
Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 23,
2014.
He is survived by his loving
wife of 64 years, Jean; daugh
ter, Cindy McGeorge; son,
Mike Brown; daughter, Linda
Yard (Charles); granddaughters,
Nicole Yard and Becky Laing
(Jimmy); great-grandson, Jason
Laing.
Gordon was a loving hus
band, father and grandfather.
His love for his family and his
incredible sense of humor will
remain in his family’s hearts
forever. He loved his church,
golfing, boating, and spending
time in the mountains.

Crews with Atlanta Gas Light spent
nearly three hours sealing and repairing
the gas line, whose leak could have been
much worse, according to Shivers.
“There was a four-inch gas main right
next to the [one and one-quarter inch]
line, but that one fortunately was not
damaged,” he said.
Although the nearby Aldi store wasn’t
evacuated, it sat empty as workers fixed
the leak because sheriff’s deputies had
to block the only entrances to its park
ing lot to keep motorists away from the
leak.

Victoria Vernon Cafferty
Victoria Vernon Cafferty,
45, of Winder passed away
Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014. She
was a devoted sister, mother,
and daughter. Vicki was a
woman of faith who left us
with a message of hope.
Survivors include her chil
dren, Brian Lynn Cafferty and
Kevin Richard Cafferty, both
of Winder; sisters and brother
in-law, April Lynn Vernon of
Cumming, Laura and Kaj
Nybom of Johns Creek; broth
er and sister-in-law, Gary and
Cindi Vernon of Dahlonega;
nephew, Scott Rueckel of
Johns Creek; several aunts,
uncles and cousins also sur
vive.
Memorial services will be
held Monday, Sept. 29, at 6
p.m. in the Chapel of Ingram
Funeral Home with Dr. Joe L.
Vernon officiating. The family
will receive friends at Ingram

Phyllis Herring Fair
Phyllis Herring Fair of
Cumming passed away at
home Sept. 26, 2014. She was
preceded in death by her
devoted and loving husband,
Royce D. Fair; her parents,
Luke Herring and Rubye
Crow Herring; and sisters,
Jean Parker and Barbara
Broome.
Phyllis was born in Buford
and grew up in the Kirkwood
section of Atlanta. She attend
ed Kirkwood Elementary
School and graduated from
Girls High School.
After retirement, Phyllis
and Royce moved to
Cumming. They were charter
members of North Lanier
Baptist Church. Phyllis was a
member of the 4Him Bible
Study Class.
Phyllis is survived by her
sisters, Doris (Dot) Parker of
Cumming and Louise
Simmons of Eatonton; broth
ers-in-law, Leonard Fair of
Atlanta, Jack Parker of
Phoenix, Ariz., and Don
Broome of Snellville; and
nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held at
Ingram Funeral Home
Chapel Tuesday, Sept. 30, at
10 a.m. with Dr. Dan Parker
officiating. Interment fol
lowed at Sawnee View
