West back in playoff hunt with upset of South

West Forsyth head coach
Adam Clack knew his
Wolverines had yet to play
anywhere close to their best
this season. The Wolverines
heard it all—inconsistent,
lacking an identity—during
a 2-3 start.
West was getting there,
slowly, until Clack called
his team out during the
Wolverines' Oct. 5 bye
week, wanting to see who
would step up.
The first-year head coach
got his answer in a 27-14
win over South Forsyth on
Friday night at War Eagle
Stadium: just about every
one.

NORTH FORSYTH 14, JOHNS CREEK 13
Raiders break out
North holds on
for first victory
By Colin Ochs
For the Forsyth County News
It wasn’t easy, but thanks to
a couple of failed fourth-down
conversions by Johns Creek
late in the game, North
Forsyth was able to hold onto
a halftime lead and earn its
first win of the season 14-13 at
Raider Valley on Friday.
“Monkey off our backs,”
North head coach Jason Galt
said. “I've won a bunch of
games in my career and lost a
bunch of games in my career,
and as far as feeling good after
a victory this is one that ranks
up there just because of all the
adversity we've dealt with this
year.”
North had a good first drive
but was stymied once it
reached the red zone and
ended up missing a 40-yard

It was a good sign to see the

A word of advice to future
Etowah opponents: do not,
under any circumstances, allow
Skylar Wallace to reach base.
Lambert coach Brooks
Youngblood, exasperated as the
freshman catcher strode to the
plate for a third time, called
back-to-back changeups — and
Marissa Guimbarda threw two
strikes. Wallace stepped out of
the batter’s box, smiled at
Youngblood as if to say, ‘you

Wallace — and this_is no
exaggeration — was the
