at North Forsyth High

in a head-on collision as they

Golf Club. Both he and his
grandfather were killed in
the crash.

Dumphy Memorial Golf
Scholarship Fund has been
established in his honor to
award other young golfers

Registration for the Joe
Dumphy Memorial Classic
is open to all golfers between
the ages of 8 and 18 who
register by Wednesday, June
15. The event is part of the
Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
(HJGT) and will be held at
the Royal Lakes Golf and
Country Club in Flowery
Branch on June 25-26.

Forsyth County Commissioner Cindy Jones Mills (middle) recently received
the 2016 Woman of Achievement Award from the Georgia Federation of
Business and Professional Women'’s Clubs at the group’s annual conference in
Macon. The award recognizes working women for their achievements in
careers and public services. Mills, who represents District 4 in north Forsyth,
was presented the award by Earlene Roden (right), a federation member, and
joined by her daughter, Megan Mills Bottoms (left).

performance starts for the
Girls 14-18 champion and
one for the Girls 14-18 top
three.
This event offers two days
and 36 holes of competition.
The first round will begin
with a double tee start from
noon to 2 p.m., with the final
round being at 8-10 am. on
the second day.
An award ceremony will
follow the competition.
Registration is $195 for
HJGT members and $245
for non-members.

She said the hospital’s popular
Christmas tree will sit atop the new

The expansion is planned to be
completed and serving customers by
early November, even if the outside
might already look done.
“When we go up like that, we have
to add elevators, and we're still
working on those. We still have a lot

coming down by the end of June, so
we’ll look like we're finished, but on
the inside we’re not quite finished
yet."
The new: addition will add more
than 60 beds for patients, which
Jackson said was one of the hospi
tal’s chief concerns.
“The biggest benefit at this point is
capacity,” she said. “This community
has not had enough hospital beds to
accommodate all the needs for quite
some time. This time, we’re able to
add a good many beds.”
