Water Conditions:
Lake Lanier’s water level
is 1,068.26 or 2.74 feet
and above the normal full
pool at 1,071. The main
lake is clear and to slight
ly stained in the main
lake creeks. The backs of
the creeks and rivers are
slightly stained to stained.
Lake surface tempera
tures are in the mid 80’s.
The Chattahoochee River
below Buford Dam is
clear. Check generation
schedules before heading
out to the river at 770-

Bass: The top water
action continues to be
good in the mornings and
we have seen this action
happening all day long in
certain areas. The fish in
the morning are roaming
around off shore around
and at the end of long
points. As the sun gets up
look for the spotted bass
to move into the brush
and cast your top water
plugs directly over this
cover for some explosive
top water strikes!
Running and gunning
multiple brush piles will
produce some top water
action but not all of them
will hold active fish.
The drop shot has been
a key producer this week.

“It’s exciting but stress
ful at the same time,”
Huggins said. “Seeing all
of the work you’ve done
since being a little guy
pay off and come togeth
er is wonderful. At the
other end of the spec
trum, you have so many
people counting on you,
checking in on you,
building relationships.
When you get to the end
of it, deciding where you
want to go—everybody
will have their opinion,
and you’'ve got to just
make the best decision
for yourself.”
The new-age of recruit
ing is a process millennial
athletes are quite privy
to—it’s now a digital
game.

there is. To sit with him
and talk football and life,
it was an amazing experi

esting guy.”
Twenty-three offers
have come since Bucknell
mailed the first. Before
football season even ends
he'll need to decide
where he wants to contin
ue his career. With high
school classes slated to be
out of the way by the end
of the fall semester,
Huggins plans to sign
early and enroll early at
the school of his choice.
Huggins always knew
the recruiting attention
would come, but adjust

The War Eagles’
defense made noise, mak

competition—something
difficult to accomplish in
a passing camp with no

South, competing in the
invitational for the first
time, finished 1-2-1 and
was tabbed as a No. 20
seed (out of 30 teams) for
bracket play, which
occurred later Friday
after severe weather inter
fered with the regularly
scheduled tournament
times.
But in the morning the
War Eagles didn’t go
grand slam against Maine
in the Tigers’ third game.
He hit his first walk-off
home run in the bottom of
the 10th of a 3-2 victory
against Boston College on
March 20.
But Beer’s reputation
soared with one swing in
a road game at Georgia
on April 5 in what he
called one of his two
favorite moments of the
season.
It was, of course. a
homecoming of sorts for
Beer. In front of family,
friends and a contingent
of Lambert administra
tors. Beer blasted a 2-2
pitch over a 50-feet score
board in right-center field
to tie the game 6-6 in the
top of the eighth.
In the days after, foot-

the award that is selected
by the National Collegiate

of becoming the first
freshman ever to be
named the Atlantic Coast

“Obviously. it’s a tre
mendous honor.” Beer
said. “It’s something I'm
blessed to have the oppor
tunity to have the experi
ence. And also to bring it
back to Clemson is just a
tremendous feeling, to be
able to celebrate that with
Clemson University and
the fans.
“It’s just a great accom
plishment, something not
only I worked hard for but
the blood, sweat and tears
of my family to get me to
this point. It’s finally
starting to set in that 1 had
a good season.”
Beer rose to promi

first through a series of

On coming within a

But Huggins knows
more offers are coming.
“My original plan was
actually, because I'm
graduating early, to pick a
place in June. Obviously
with so many offers com

a little confusing. There’s
so much to handle just
researching what’s on the

more coming,” Huggins

“Relationships are the
most important,” Huggins
said. “I know coaches can
leave schools and stuff
like that, so more than
just looking at the schools
it’s about the quality of
the relationships I'm
making and what feels
right when the time
comes.”
So far North Carolina
State seems to be the
frontrunner—it’s one of
two offers from a Power
5 conference, and he’s on
his way to Raleigh for a
second visit Friday morn

Huggins has met with
the Wolfpack, Kansas

Tennessee State, Western
Kentucky and Tulane.
Out of the two, NC State
used its defense to edge
Gainesville 12-11.
Gainesville ended up
qualifying as the top seed
going into bracket play.

Cal Morris stood out
for South as a potential
receiving option—he
spent last season as
Shanley’s backup at quar

“I think (Cal) Morris
was outstanding in the
last two games we played
today,” Arnette said. “He
really gives us another
option out wide, which
we need.”
Another candidate to
fill the receiving void is
Jaylen Pearson, a rising
junior who received play

experienced returner in
rising senior Guy Morra.
