Rethink your drink for hot and humid days
Depending on the
weather and level of
exercise, you may need
to adjust the number of
ounces of water you
drink. Some water can
also be taken into the
body through foods you
eat. With a healthy and
well-balanced diet,
about 20 percent of
water consumption is
from food. Some foods
such as watermelon are
comprised of nearly 90
percent water.
Follow these helpful
tips from University of
Georgia Extension to
stay hydrated:
Drink water with
every snack, meal
» Give water to your
child when he/she
comes home from
school
* Drink plenty of
water after working
out, or your child has
been playing outside
e Throughout the day
— keep a bottle of
water with you — at
your desk, in your bag,
and in your child’s
backpack
e Use reusable water
bottles to prevent

For the Forsyth County News
Summer is right
around the corner, and
with the hot and humid
weather upon us, out
door activities will be
beckoning. The dan
gers of overheating and
becoming dehydrated
are a great risk during
the summer months in
particular because
many people fail to
drink enough fluids.
Drinking water and
staying hydrated is an
important part of keep
ing your family safe,
healthy and happy this
summer.
In order for our bod
ies to function proper
ly, they must stay
hydrated. The amount
of water needed to stay
hydrated varies from
one person to the next.
To determine the
amount needed, divide
your weight in pounds
by half. This number
represents the number
of ounces you should
be drinking. For exam
ple, if you weigh 120
pounds, you should
drink 60 ounces of
water each day.
