The ball moved methodically yet swiftly around the
3-point line, from one North Forsyth girls basketball
player to another, never hitting the floor, until freshman

defensive
hadn’t yet occurred for Lambert.
After a rare loss on the draw thanks to
a mouthpiece violation, visiting North
Forsyth scored a second consecutive
goal on a tricky bounce shot that just
managed to sneak by back-up goalie

Two Grayson defenders converged on Perryman, but
curling around them toward the basket was Catherine
Shope. Perryman bounced a pass through the defenders
to the senior guard, and her path to the basket was clear
for a layup.
North head coach Eric Herrick immediately called
timeout after the play early in the fourth quarter, perhaps
to set up an ensuing defensive stand, but the pause also
allowed the sizeable crowd inside Raider Arena to roar in
approval for the team’s double-digit lead.
“It’s fun,” Shope said. “We’re having a fun time out
there.” .

Horns get tripped

The door to the Lambert boys basket
ball team’s locker room holds a remind
er of the program’s excellence: a pic
ture of the team posing in celebration
after winning this year’s region cham
pionship.
But as the downcast Longhorns
walked out after their 56-47 loss in the
state playoffs to Meadowcreek on
Wednesday night, thoughts turned to a
door of the metaphorical kind, one that
Lambert has yet to open.
Longhorns head coach Scott Bracco
‘will readily point out that Lambert is on
a run that has few peers in the state:
five straight state playoff berths, all
with a first-round win. "

Defensive pressure,

NORCROSS - South Forsyth girls
basketball head coach Keith Gravitt
said after last Friday’s win over North
Gwinnett that his War Eagle squad
would have to play near perfectly to
advance deeper in to the Class 7A state
playoffs. :
Norcross, the No. 1 seed in their side
of the bracket, used their size advantage
and defensive pressure as the Blue
Devils beat South 74-54 Wednesday
night to end the War Eagles’ season.
“They were 'very physical in the post,
and that showed tonight,” Gravitt said.
“I feel like even though they went on a
run in the second half, the first half is
