“One of the things we needed at
West Forsyth, simple enough, was
safety tape that goes on the floor
around your machine, like you would
see in a regular industry certified
space,” Tarantino said. “That’s basical

stand to make sure they’re safe and no
one else is walking there that might
accidentally get hurt.”
__Tarantino said West was the first
county high school to complete the
certification and the other high schools
would likely be approved later this
semester or in the fall.
“I think the kids and parents in
Forsyth County really want that com
petitive edge, and there are not that
many programs in the state that have
it,” he said. “So, by saying, ‘we have

be heard by the same Ohio judge.
Blalock said the opioid lawsuits are
similar to the suits filed in the 1990 s
against the nation’s four largest tobacco
manufacturers: Philip Morris Inc., R. J.
Reynolds, Brown & Williamson and
Lorillard.
In the tobacco master settlement
agreement, the four companies agreed to
pay $206 billion to 46 states in the first
25 years of the agreement. :
This time around, the suit would be
filed against the “manufacturers of pre

which is plaguing” the county, according
to the resolution authorizing the suit.
Blasingame, Burch, Garrard & Ashley
would not charge the county for its ser

Commissioners are set to vote on the
lawsuit during their Tuesday, March 6,

Commissioners signaled support for
the lawsuit on Monday, March 5.
“There’s probably not a person or a

affected by this,” Commissioner Scott
Gibbs said of the opioid epidemic.
Meanwhile, Board of Commissioners

If commissioners authorize the law
