This is Forsyth Central’s breakout season on
the Region 5-7 A soccer scene, as surreal as that
feels for some of the Bulldogs” players.

Central senior Jenna Uldrich said. “...To come
out here and beat the people who we’ve always
dreamed about beating ... it’s amazing.”
Like most Central teams, the Bulldogs girls
had a trying debut in Class 7A. They went 2-8
in region play, only beating North Forsyth.
But this season, Central has blown out North
to her team’s 1-0 lead, only to fire her
shot directly into the waiting arms of the
goalkeeper.
Late in the second game and with a
2-0 lead, South’s Andrew Shah popped a
ball over the sliding North Goalkeeper,
only to sail it over an empty net by a
few inches.
West boys cruising
Wolverines ,
improve to 4-0
with win at Central
By Steven Watkins
For the Forsyth County News
There were exactly two moments dur
ing Wednesday night’s boys lacrosse
matchup at West Forsyth when the visit
ing Forsyth Central Bulldogs appeared
to be in the game.
Both South teams won shutouts, both
dominated shots and possession, but
both clearly left numerous opportunities
on the field as shot after shot sailed
wide, high or into the hands of the goal
keeper throughout the entirety of
South’s sweep of the visiting Raiders.
Neither scored after the first half.

Down 5-2 late in the first half and
having won a rare faceoff thanks to a
loose-ball foul, Central’s Grayson
McCart found an opening in West’s
man-down-defense and fired a shot by
the goalkeeper to get his team within
two.
The second moment-was the opening
faceoff, which West won and then
immediately scored the first goal of
their 14-6 win, making them the only
team on the season with a perfect four
region wins. o

“Yeah, we were a little apathetic,”
South head coach Tom Braun said. “We
did not play with the intensity that we
should have, and North played a good
game, their goalkeeper made some great
saves and kept them in it, and we were
